Mother Milk is a common trait among geniuses

Prof. Dr. Şükrü Arslan said that, ´´Genius childs appear to be among those who are fed with their mothers´ milk through the period when they are between 1 and 2 years old. On the other hand those who are not fed after becoming 1 year old apperantly lose their chances for becoming a genius."

I have always suspected my mother hadn´t nursed me at all! Now I do see clearly and sadly why I am not a genius a thickhead ! {#emotions_dlg.bigsmile}

Hm, I think breast milk has advantages, but to say that not being fed breast milk means you can never grow up to be a genius is wrong. I have proof

I´d hate to argue with Turkish scientists, not being a scientist myself, but I´ve read somewhere that actually once a child is old enough to eat food that adults eat (ie about being 1 year of age), breastfeeding is more of a mother´s inability to cut off the umbilical cord than a necessity.A child with a balanced diet should be able to absorb all nutritients from the diet, not from breastmilk.

"For all the other claims, there have been studies that show an association between breastfeeding and better health, which are championed, and studies which show no link, which are largely ignored. Some studies show an increase of a few percentage points in IQ, then more rigorous studies come along and comprehensively disprove that link. And so on. Even the studies that show small associations between, say, bottle-feeding and respiratory illness, do not, Wolf says, fully take into account other reasons why such a family may be more prone to infection."

personally, I believe (or, rather, I chose to believe) it´s an individual decision if and how long to breastfeed. A happy and relaxed mother is crucial for the child to develop properly. And the formulas these days are way better than they used to when I was a baby.

OK...I just want to ask....has anyone done research on geniuses that have not been breast fed?  Because I think this study is very one sided and prejudicial.  Especially since just about every women in Turkey breast feeds.  Just my observation....its a good debate though.  We might actually be able to back up our claims with facts!!  HOLY COW....TC may come to a complete halt and our little blue planet hurtling through space may stop spinning on its axis!! {#emotions_dlg.lol_fast}

On nursing I still find the baby itself cleverer than any science/research. Let the baby decide how long to be nursed, irregardless of ´genius/idiocy´-point - it may be just 6 months as well as 4 years!

Nice theory, Gezegen But I´m afraid if I let my little one eat whatever he finds right for him, he´d be on a diet of chocolate and...sand

daydreamer - To my understanding, he must be strongly protesting the fact that you have never ever nursed him! You must be such a cruel mother! At least let him eat chocolate and sand in peace!

Hey, mothers, leave them kids alone

All in all you´re just another brick in the wall.  {#emotions_dlg.whistle}

My idea exactly I know several geniuses (the real kind, IQ measured) and they were not breast fed. So it is possible. I have also seen one of my Turkish nieces being breast fed at the age of three, and that just make me feel REALLY ackward. When a kid says "meme" and you instantly learn what the word means because your sister in law whips it out, you know the kid is too old for it
