"alıp" is used here as a gerund. one could say "aldıktan sonra". Both have same meaning.

al - mak , al - ıp (aldıktan sonra)

uyu - mak , uyu - yup (uyuduktan sonra)

yat - mak , yat -ıp (yattıktan sonra)

My understanding of the ip/up suffix is that it is used when you have the same subject (in this case Ahmet) and two separate actions (taking a shower & sleeping)

I hope this helps you understand. Smile
