´süt´ has stirred up Austria

"Süt" labels on some of the products of an Austrian company has caused protests.

´Türkçe süt´ Avusturya´yı karıştırdı

Milk (süt in Turkish) has caused some controversy in Asutria. A company has begun to use Turkish word "süt" on some of their products sold through Turkish Markets in Austria, which has caused some protests.
According to an Austrian mewspaper (Kurier) the call center of the company is receiving hundreds of calls and e-mails protesting it. Also some forums are calling to boycott all the products of the company.

So the name was English first, and then they changed it to Turkish?

I think they  called it "milch" in Austria. Take a look at the picture in first post.

So the title is "milch" or "süt".

you said ´So the name was English first, and then they changed it to Turkish?´ - i was just pointing out that ´milch´ written on the cartons is not english and i wondered why you didn´t say german not english. so no need for the sarcastic comment thank you.

Okay, this is what happened...as you sometimes see from my typo´s and idiotic mistakes, I have a bit of dyslectia. Not that bad most of the time, but sometimes I read words that aren´t there. So, I actually thought it said Australia. I read the peace three times now, then google Kaurier, and THEN I finnaly understood it said Austria I really didn´t get why they would say Milch on a Australian milk packages... Seem they don´t do that at all {#emotions_dlg.suspicious}

Come on guys.

I wasn´t expecting this kind of comments.

The company is right in their decision as they are targeting Turkish consumers. The problem is why are Austrians so oversensitive here?

I am not sure it is entirely true, as sometimes, Turkish media writes these type of balloony articles. (Sometimes  I see/hear stories like ´england  is talking about this and that´. But actually it is not the case in reality. Most of the times these things are just  fabrication) But however, if it is true and if they are really protesting, it will be as racist as Turks would protest if Kurdish word milk is written on Turkish milk cartons..

ps..maybe it is not baloony.. Because there seems to be an article here http://derstandard.at/1282273554088/Suet-Tuerk-Milch-der-NOeM-erhitzt-Gemueter

and when I translated it from German to English

"The milk is bought there anyway. We wanted to avoid foreign competition. It´s better if there good Lower milk is offered," says Maria clitoris (what is Kitzler in German?).. lol

It also says: "The Kronen-Zeitung NÖM Board Alfred Berger says the negative reactions in E-mails: "We made some effort to call us the sender. They come from a certain corner."  A bigot sending multiple mails? However it does not change their shameful attitude to foreigners..

I see that our well-known member, famous for his Kurdish obsession, has managed to include the Kurds in the discussion.

Here are some links about the subject, which I have found through Google:

Because it is Austria, not Turkey. When you go to BIM you don´t have a whole section with English/Greek/Dutch/Whatever labelled food. I think it´s a strange move. Why change it if it´s already clear to people what it is? By changing the name to Turkish there is this division... no no, this isn´t milk for everybody, this is special milk, only for Turkish people. This milk is made and sold in Austria. I guess this is the issue people have with it, they don´t like ethno-marketing. I get it... I get so irritated by English names in Dutch supermarkets

Anyway, I do think they should have kept the name milch, but I think the whole boycot thing that it has led to is just silly.
