Scandalous adventures of Turkish curling team in Scotland

October 26, 2010 | 14:11

Turkish curling men and women teams were involved in numerous scandals after their return from European Championships held in Scotland.

Sportsmen proffered to rent apartments not to stay in hotels and did their utmost to shame Turkey within a month, Posta reported.

First, they invited a Scottish girl to one of their parties and raped her. The arrested Turkish sportsman was released only after he paid a large amount to girl’s mother and she withdrew her complaint.

Turkish sportsmen also fired one of the apartments. Firemen hardly managed to extinguish the fire. Owners of the apartment demanded compensation for burnt property.

Besides, Turkish sportsmen went to casinos and drank all nights long.

How long ago was this si++? Can´t say I read any of this in the local press. Also I would be surprised if someone arrested for rape would be released after money changed hands.

It was reported yesterday here. There is no exact date but from what I understand it sounds like it all happened in last 1 month.

Israel is relieved not to be the only war criminal

The voice of joy, the voice of rejoicing is heard in Israel: The Americans and British have also committed for war crimes, not only us.

By Gideon Levy

The voice of joy, the voice of rejoicing is heard in Israel: The Americans and British have also committed for war crimes, not only us. WikiLeaks´ revelations have inflamed all our noisy propagandists: Where is Goldstone, they rejoiced, and what would he have said? They were relieved. If the Americans are allowed to do it, so are we.

Indeed, the Americans are not allowed, and neither are we. When the traffic police stop a driver for speeding, the argument that "others do it" will not help him. When Richard Goldstone exposes war crimes in Gaza, the claim that "everyone does it" will not help us. Not everyone does it, and when they do, they should be excoriated and penalized.

According to the logic of Israeli propagandists, some of whom are disguised as journalists, Israel should now proudly look at the rest of the world: They killed more people there. There is no need to improve prison conditions in Israel - in China the situation is much worse; there is no need to upgrade health services - in America 50 million people have no insurance; no need to reduce the gap between rich and poor - in Mexico it is greater; we can continue to assassinate without trial - the British also do it; human rights are protected here - the Iranians are much worse; Israel has no corruption - look what´s happening in Africa; the United States has the death penalty - let´s have it too; it is even permissible to kill dissident journalists - look at the Russians.

Leaked documents show US military sees PKK as ‘freedom fighters’

Leaked documents show US military sees PKK as ‘freedom fighters’ - The US Army sees members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is classified by the US as a terrorist group, as “freedom fighters,” according to WikiLeaks documents disclosed this week.

Turkey is mentioned in 128 of 391,000 confidential documents leaked by the whistleblower website that revealed the shocking civilian death toll in Iraq. In one document, the terrorist PKK is exalted as “freedom fighters.” The documents refer to a PKK group captured in Fallujah in 2004 as “freedom fighters who are citizens of Turkey.” The timing of this document comes shortly after Turkey’s Parliament decided not to allow the US to deploy troops in Turkey to attack Iraq.

Among the documents is a note about a PKK member caught in 2006 which states that it might be risky to hand him over to Iraqi police. Another document includes a report showing that a large number of Turks were arrested in Fallujah, the base of Sunni resistance fighters. A document from February 2007 reported that an Iraqi who resides in Turkey provided chemical gas used in several attacks by al-Qaeda there. WikiLeaks’ new revelations were seen as shocking by many, as US documents show that the civilian death toll in Iraq since the 2003 invasion has reached 115,000. This includes only the number of documented deaths.

Armenia evicts Turkish politicians

Armenia´s National Security Service asked Beklevic and Orsek to leave the country.

Armenia evicts Turkish politicians

Armenia´s security agency says it has served eviction notices to two Turkish politicians who said they had illegally crossed the border.

Tuna Beklevic, the leader of Powerful Turkey Party and his deputy Baybars Orsek told a news conference on Thursday in the Armenian capital that they had briefly crossed into Armenia earlier this month to emphasize the need to reopen the closed border.

Armenia´s National Security Service spokesman Artsvin Bagramian said Friday it summoned the two politicians to explain their actions and later asked them to leave the country.

It was not immediately clear if the two had left the country.

Turkey shut the border in 1993 to protest Armenia´s backing of separatists in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The two nations signed a deal a year ago to normalize ties and reopen the border, but so far have failed to ratify it.

There are over 40 000 citizens of Armenia, currently allowed to work in Turkia without work permits, for humane reasons. For every unfriendly act of Armenia, 1000 illegal workers should immediately be deported.

Sad, but fair...{#emotions_dlg.alcoholics}
