I have read something that Turkish businessmen/women do not need to apply for a visa anymore if they want to do business with the Netherlands. They get a visa at the border for maximum 3 months. Is that true? Or was that just a specific case? It will be a huge step forward if Dutch Government becomes more flexible in that matter. If anybody knows more about it I appreciate reply.

Hi Tulip..This is the latest news :

Dutch court rules no tourist visas required for Turks

A Dutch court ruled on Monday that Turkish nationals are exempt from visa requirements during travel to the EU member nation for purposes of tourism just three days after a German court issued a similar ruling.

The Haarlem court ruled that Turkish nationals are exempt from visa requirements during travel for tourism purposes of up to three months, upholding an earlier European Court of Justice’s ruling on the highly controversial issue. The court said the visa requirement was in violation of Article 41 of the Additional Protocol to the Association Agreement between Turkey and the European Economic Community (EEC).

Turkish officials have long criticized the EU member state’s slow pace of processing visa applications, high application fees and much higher rate of rejection than that of other EU countries. Turkey and the EU, known as the European Economic Community at the time, signed a protocol titled the Additional Protocol to the Association Agreement between Turkey and the EEC in 1970 that was approved by the EEC in 1972 and which states that EEC states and Turkey will refrain from introducing any new restrictions on the freedom of establishment or the freedom to provide services from the time of the protocol’s entry into force in the signatory countries. Citizens are also allowed to stay in the country for up to three months without having to apply for a residence permit.

Thanks for that  dear dutch authorities I am hapy to spend my holiday in Turkey ..!!

Yes there was a court decision recently but I wouldn´t trust it. Probably Dutch government will apply to a supreme court to annul the decision.

The following quoted from: here

Turkish nationals who want to work in the Netherlands do not have to have a visa because of Turkey’s free movement treaty with the EU, Trouw reports on Thursday.

On Monday, a court in Haarlem said a Turkish businessman who was arrested in 2009 after returning to the Netherlands from a short stay in Turkey without a visa should not have been detained.

The treaty was signed in 1973 and states that the rights of Turkish nationals to free movement within the EU should not be curbed.

Foreign minister Uri Rosenthal said in January that because there was a visa requirement for Turkish nationals in 1973, this is still the case.

According to Trouw, it is not yet clear what action the ministry is planning to take or if it will appeal against the Haarlem ruling.
