Hi is there a lesson on here about how to use the -ip suffix (i think its when two verbs go together or something?) words like gelip, edip etc i cant find information about it anywhere!

-ip suffix shows where Turkish shines as math like language.

Take a V verb and conjugate it in any way by appending relevant suffixes.

Now assume V1+ip V2 = V and use it that way.

Example:

V1=git V2=gel

gid-ip gel = V ( just treat it a single verb just as you would treat git or gel)

gidip gel-dim

gidip gel-irim

gidip gel-iyorum

gidip gel-eceğim

gidip gel-miştim

etc.

In a combination like V1-ip + V2, are there any preconditions for V2? I mean, can it be in another tense or mode, can it be an infinite form?

Bir oyuncu kırmızı kart görüp oyunu bitiremez/bitirmemeli. (ACTIVE  -  POTENTIAL/ NECESSITATIVE)

Suppose the verbs in the set demand their modifiers in different cases. Let´s say V1 takes a direct object and V2 an undirect one (and still they are physically the same). Which one controls, V1 or V2?

In your example, treat durdurup kaleye vurdu as a unit

V = durdurup kaleye vur-mak

"top" is the direct object (of V) and should be used with accusative suffix:

Topu durdurup kaleye vurdu.

So you don´t have to repeat "top".
