Very impressive. Makes you wonder why so many people in Libya wanted to get rid of Gaddafi.

I´d rather be poor and free than have free dental care and live under a dictator. The "free" healthcare in Lybia was so bad, that anybody with a bit of money went to Egypt or Tunesia to get treatment. Also, putting the label "university" on something doesn´t make it of the international "university" level. I even see this difference between Holland and Turkey. Some of the things that are called "university studies" in Turkey are called "HBO" in Holland, which is one level lower than university. There was no starvation in Lybia? It was even used as a torture method by Khadaffi! Libya WAS a great country to live in... if you were related to Khadaffi...
Your source is disputable. Some guy who sent an email (yes, I googled where you got it from). To pretend that Lybia was some sort of heaven is an insult to all the people who suffered under Khadaffi, and double insulting to all the people who died by his hands during the last decades.

It´s easy to say Barba, when you don´t need dental care. If you do need it, your wants may change. There is nothing like a good toothache, in fact they can kill, and to be sure, bad teeth do not make pretty. The pain is all but unbearable. Have you seen anyone with a bad abscess? Have you seen a swollen face from a bad tooth?
I don´t glorify Gadaffi, he did some horrible things, and he stayed in power too long, but I do think the people in Lybia are in for a shock when they taste the fruits of Capitalism.
Those who have, get to have more, those that don´t have, have less...I doubt if there would be much altruistic compassion towards the citizens of Lybia, were there not abundant petrol sources there.
I won´t dignify your demeaning trivialization of none European educational systems.
I will admit Holland has some enviable social institutions.

Your source is disputable. You say so because you can not find it in western media. Anyway those are unpleasant things for those who try to find ways to interfere in Libya. Some guy who sent an email (yes, I googled where you got it from It was posted (in Turkish) to a private yahoo group where I got it from.). To pretend that Lybia was some sort of heaven is an insult to all the people who suffered under Khadaffi, and double insulting to all the people who died by his hands during the last decades I hope they can be better now. let´s "wait and see".

Than that post was translated from english to Turkish. Don´t post something online, if you don´t even know where it comes from. The source is somebody who said he received this information from somebody "who knows Lybia very well" who emailled it to him.
You can push buttons, and you can have your own opinions. But to back up a dictator who ran a horrible regime is even beyong what is okay for you. Dental care sounds nice, but there were no dentist in the poorer areas of Lybia to give dental care. And even if there were, there was no equipment. Get your facts straight. The lines you have quoted are Ghadaffi´s ideas from his "green book", but the reality of Lybia was different. I have spoken with enough refugees to know so! You claims, and your lack of fact checking insults their suffering.
And all of this is not even taking into account the terrorists that were backed up by Ghadaffi. Scream and shout about America and their guns, but Ghadaffi who openly financed a plane bombing in the U.K. is an example of a "great government"?

Than that post was translated from english to Turkish. How do you know? Maybe it´s the other way.Don´t post something online, if you don´t even know where it comes from. Don´t tell me what to do! The source is somebody who said he received this information from somebody "who knows Lybia very well" who emailled it to him. So what? They may still be true. What makes you so sure they are not?
You can push buttons, and you can have your own opinions. But to back up a dictator who ran a horrible regime is even beyong what is okay for you. Can you show me the bits where I backed up a dictator? I only presented (passed) some "facts". Dental care sounds nice, but there were no dentist in the poorer areas of Lybia to give dental care. And even if there were, there was no equipment. Get your facts straight. The lines you have quoted are Ghadaffi´s ideas from his "green book", but the reality of Lybia was different. Then present your facts backed up by your trusted sources. I have spoken with enough refugees to know so! Hah? you only have spoken to some refugees and that´s enough to draw the whole picture?? You claims, and your lack of fact checking insults their suffering.
And all of this is not even taking into account the terrorists that were backed up by Ghadaffi. Scream and shout about America and their guns, but Ghadaffi who openly financed a plane bombing in the U.K. is an example of a "great government"?Again, I have never backed up Gaddafi anywhere. But I will not reject those facts blindfoldedly like yourselves. There may be some truth to them. That´s why I have posted them. Gaddafi may be anything but he was the head of an independent state. Nobody could tell him what to do. Libya was in no way a slave of the capitalist system (they have no debts to any bank or country). Libya was out of control of western powers. That was the reason to oust him. (puff I think you will see these lines as backing up a dictator, right? I think I am neutral person though.)

I agree with you both. A beggar in the street corner would take anyone as his dictator if he this way got bread to his children. I know it´s easy to have principles if you live in a welfare state. But truth and justice have their prize, too. I wonder how Libyan people tolerated this green book rubbish so long.

I somehow always liked Gadaffi in the past. He is someone with a great charisma. He had his bodyguards consisted of females mainly. And when he travelled the west he used to bring his beduin tent with himself.

He certainly was a colorful leader...his female body guards were really something. Then there are his very interesting outfits.

Muammar Gaddafi might well have been a lovable person. I once knew someone who had had a chance to enjoy his hospitality on a yacht and this person was attracted by him in a childish way. I don´t think luxury was the only reason but Gaddafi´s personality had something to do with it.
Gaddafi´s problem was that he didn´t know how to change from street corner qahwa style into a statesman style. If you are a leader and represent your country you can´t call people names, for instance. Besides, I think he was not quite in balance. Sometimes it seemed like he took his speaches from Google translator.

Maybe the west is evil. Maybe the western press has it all wrong and he was a sweet, kindly gentleman in weird clothes. Somehow I feel the truth is somewhere in the middle and he is ruthless dictator who would do anything to hold on to power and a kind and generous gift giver who knows how to manipulate people so that he can attempt make anyone who says otherwise look silly. Serial killers are often charming to their victims before brutally murdering them. This is how they are able to gain trust and allude capture. People who know them often say things like, "he was such a quiet man, I would have never known."
I didn´t know him personally and I don´t know very many people from Libya. The few that I work with left their country in fear and were seeking political asylum here in the US. I don´t think the western press put the fear of God in them. I believe a brutal dictator did...just my thoughts.
