Quoting bod:

Baş ağrısı olum
Tablet var mı?

I'd say it like this

Başım ağrıyor or Baş ağrısım var

Aspirin alabilir miyim?

Quoting Elisa:

Aspirin alabilir miyim?

Interesting......

This book

suggests that to ask a shopkeeper if he has something then:
.... var mı?
should be used. But that is in lesson one and I have only got as far as lesson two so perhaps it fills in a bit more later on!

Yeah, when you use "var/yok", that just means "to have/have not", like in being present. You could ask a shopkeeper:
Domates yok mu?: "are there no tomatoes?"

But in the headache context, I wouldn't say "is there an aspirin?" but rather "can I have an aspirin?".. And then using abil/ebil is more appropriate..

Then again, you could be looking for aspirin in the medicine cabinet, thinking / saying: "Aspirin var mı?/yok mu?"

I was more thinking of walking down the street, getting a headache then seeing a chemists......walking into the chemists and saying.......

I'd still ask "..alabilir miyim?". Because when you go to a chemist it is quite logic that they will be available there..
My tomato example was more a case of being in a shop, looking around for tomatoes, not finding them and then say "are there no tomatoes"?

Here are some common phrases to use in that case:

1. Baş ağrısı için ilaç var mı?
2. Baş ağrısı için bir ilaç istiyorum lütfen.
3. Aspirin var mı?
4. Aspirin istiyorum lütfen.
5. Bir Aspirin lütfen.
6. Bir Aspirin alabilir miyim?

We have discussed the asking part quite a bit.....thanks

But what about Baş ağrısı olum?
I know Elisa has suggested some alternatives - but is my version actually wrong??? Is this a correct use of olmak?

baş ağrısım?? is that correct?? :S

we wouldn't say, yatak odasım,
we would say, yatak odam

so wouldnt baş ağrısı be the same?
