Hello!

I´ve already dealt with much more complicated Turkish sentences, but this time I was deafeated by such a short phrase Namely, in a Turkish phrasebook I found Turkish expression for "nice to meet you" that it is tanıştığımıza memnun oldum. Firstly I though that it is translated just as I was pleased to our meeting and everything was OK, but then I remembered that 1st pers. past form of olmak is idim so it can´t mean "I was pleased...". Google translate says "oldum" is "ok", but "OK pleased to our meeting" makes no sense... So this is my question, tell me please what is the meaning of oldum in this context.

It means literally ´I became pleased´. olmak often denotes change of state. Look at this thread and the links given in it:
