Turkey´s Christian communities celebrated Easter, one of the main holidays in the Christian world, by holding religious ceremonies in churches on Sunday.Hatay´s İskenderun Catholic Church held a ceremony on Sunday to commemorate Jesus Christ´s resurrection.

Participants circumambulated the church while holding candles. The service led by Patriarch Maximilian Vereş ended with prayers from the Bible. After the ceremony, Vereş presented participants colored eggs with bread and wine, symbolizing the body and blood of Christ. İskenderun Mayor Yusuf Civelek and Republican People´s Party Hatay deputy Mevlüt Dudu were also in attendance at the service.

President Abdullah Gül issued an Easter message on Saturday. In his message, Gül said that he joined in the joy and celebrations of Turkey´s Christian citizens during Easter. Regardless of ethnic origin, language, faith or political views, everyone is an equal citizen in Turkey and equal owners of the Turkish state, Gül stressed in his message.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also released an Easter message on Saturday, saying, “I wish our Christian citizens, with whom we have lived side by side in peace for centuries, and all Christians of the world a happy Easter in peace and tranquility.”

Easter is termed a moveable feast because it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. Easter falls at some point between late March and late April each year -- or early April to early May in Eastern Christianity -- following the cycle of the moon. After several centuries of disagreement, all churches accepted the computation of the Alexandrian Church -- now the Coptic Church -- that Easter is the first Sunday after the first 14th day of the moon, known as the Paschal Full Moon, that is on or after the ecclesiastical vernal equinox.

Note : Happy Easter to All !

Some of us celebrate Noel but we dont celebrate Easter. Because its the celebration of the resurrection of Christ. If muslims believe Jesus didn´t die on crucifix and God took Jesus near him; so why some muslims celebrate Christians in this day?

Note: I asked this question for mental gymnastics. I dont mean to disrespect Christians.

I am not celebrating Easter , I am just wishing them to have a happy Easter time Gokuyum. I also would be happy to hear from non-muslims say to us " Happy Ramadan Feast ! " I belive that peaceful wishing will not bring any harm to anybody.

I dont judge you tunci. I am talking generally. And it is mostly a logical issue for me.

Now lets tanslate this last sentence to English. It is something like this: May God bless the Easter Day of all christians.

Here are some simple facts:

1)Muslims believe God is Allah.

2)Muslims believe Quran is the word of Allah.

3) All muslims must accept what Quran says.

This sentence is problematic because:

1)Easter day is the celebration of resurraction of Christ

2)God says in Quran Christ dint die on crucifix and he took Christ near him.

3)You wish God to bless Easter day of All Christians.

My question is: How is this possible for a muslim?

This is only a logical question. Peace.

It is quite possible Dear Gokuyum.

1. Wishing someone having a good time is not necessarily mean that we are agreeing with the idea that they are celebrating.

For example ; I dont go to  pub but if my friend goes out to a pub I wish him have a good time in there although I dont like the idea of spending time drinking in a pub which goes against my lifestyle and my belief.

We have Christian Turkish citizens in our country. And for the sake of unity and peace we should wish eachother good things on our special holy days.

I cant judge other´s with what they belive. It is Allah that will judge surely. This is my thinking. Peace.
