Some basic electrical advice.

- check whether everyone else in the street/apartment block has lost power, or is it just your place

- unplug the last thing that you plugged into the electrical socket (priz)

- find the fuse box for your house/apartment

- look if any circuit breakers have tripped, and identify whether it is a master switch, lighting, general power etc

- reset (switch on) any electronic breaker that has tripped (hopefully you have electronic breakers and not fuse wire)

- if the breaker trips again, unplug all electrical appliances, and try again

- normally lighting and general power outlets are on different circuits.

- do not plug the appliance that caused the problem into the socket again

- sometimes running extra heaters or air-conditioning can overload a circuit, so having less things switched on will help.

- always have a few candles and matches, and/or torch handy for emergencies.
