Very interesting article. But I must admit that my favorite line is this one:

"Moreover, Suleiman the Magnificent began to appear in commercials for Digiturk, the leading Turkish broadcasting cable firm."

We are no strangers to this phenomenon in the United States. Abraham Lincoln appears in insurance commercials, and the Salem witch trials are invoked to sell Miracle Whip (an imitation mayonnaise).

Our empires may be more closely related than we think!
