When we are learning about Turkish culture and travel, do we also get informed about the negatives?

Such as safe places and dangerous places in Turkey. I have heard quite a lot about the Turkish baths, and Marmaris beach is nice, my cousins visited this beach in the summer of 2011, but a Turkish police officer told them they can´t sit at that beach for some reason, they had talked to a Turkish citizen earlier and had a debate about where Kurdistan exists. So I guess this officer decided they should not sit on the beach for some reason, after this altercation. So there are good and bad things about Turkey, I would just like to know if all elements are being shown.

There are good and bad people everywhere in the world. There are safe and less safer places in every country. There are good intentioned and bad intentioned people everywhere.

What about this map ?  Imagine an independent country called " Republic of Turkmeneli " . Anyone can make any map. [Although my heart would want to see that independent Turkmeneli ] the "Unity of Iraq" is important at the moment.

This modest thread started with a single request/question, but seems to be breeding other questions. The questions so far are:

1. Can this site accomodate seldom Turkish-only posts ?

2.  ISTANBUL CANAL

Is the idea of building an "İstanbul Canal" the product of a sincere genius mind, or is it a hoax to rob Turkey from her natural resources (natural gas and oil) rumoured to lie beneath the area?

3. Why is the Turkish Police suspicious of weird foreign guests, desiring to conduct a discussion on the probable location of Kurdistan with strangers they met on the beach, while having a vacation in Turkey, taking full benefit of Turkish hospitality?

Any one with interesting ideas on any of the three issues?
