That´s one of my favorite songs.

Here is the original by Aşik Veysel

For those who don´t know, here is a translation:

From the moment I came into the world

I began to walk at the same time

In a mansion with two doors

I walk all day, I walk all night

If considering deeply

It appears as if were far away at first sight

As the route length is a minute

I walk all day, I walk all night

Veysel is amazed at this events

He sometimes laughs, but sometimes also cries

To reach journey´s end

I walk all day, I walk all night

There are so many covers of this song. It is not possible to know the number. I love Pentagram´s metal cover most. It is so different than original.

Ummm....interesting. I´m a bit more of a traditional type...older I guess. Here is one of my favorite versions, although I must say the Cem Karaca, Baris Manço one is probably my favorite. I love Cahit Berkay´s introduction to the piece. He is one of my favorite Turkish musicians.

From my perspective it seems a very popular piece, even with the young. Is this true?

Gokuyum, I see now where I made my mistake! I have been reviewing my Turkish lessons today and see that if I had thought about this a bit harder, I would have gotten it.

Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım

long narrow a road on I am

I am on a long and narrow road

I sometimes have trouble realizing that "da" or some other suffix is actually a suffix and not a basic part of a word. I had even tried to look up "yolda." Although perhaps that should have tipped me off: "en route."

I must start reading more in Turkish! {#emotions_dlg.yes}
