Need some easy reading

Hmm. Perhaps I understand. But I am not a professional or an academic translating a text. I am a beginner, so I am just trying to understand the sentence constructions and to build my vocabulary. And whether I convey it in my translation, I think I understood the theme of the story. It is a comment on human nature, is it not? All told in a simple tale of four people in a boat. (At least I didn´t say the frightened professor took the boat´s only piece of simit!)
But please tell me where I missed the nuance. I can only improve with help.
I asked because you translated the text too literally. Do you understand what I mean?

I thank you, Ikicihan. It may be amusing to some, but these are just the kinds of stories that will help me. I would like to learn Turkish. I am excited about learning Turkish. And after only four months of study, any encouragement people here offer is much appreciated. I am glad to have your help.
If I have offended, I am sorry, Gokuyum. Maybe the nuance in the words is not all that I am missing here.

Merhaba! Does anyone have good suggestions on reading material for a beginning Türkçe student? I have read the stories here on the site by Erdinc and Canli, and they were just at the level I need. Are there more reading materials here on the site? Are there any good Internet resources? ... Teşekkür ederim!

we like and prefer free stuff  If we are not successful to find a good free stuff, then we may buy something. At least i am like that!
