He gave up the idea of attending Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, the moment he saw boys and girls sitting on the field, TOGETHER. Later he became a minister in the Government.

What does kızlı erkekli oturuyorlar really mean? Is it different than kızlarla erkekler oturuyor?

What does kızlı erkekli oturuyorlar really mean? Is it different than kızlarla erkekler oturuyor?

The two expressions both indicate that boys and girls are together, with a small fine difference.

"kızlarla erkekler oturuyor"  may be used to describe girls and boys sharing the same auditorium, but possibly,  say with girls at front rows and boys in the back rows.

"kızlı erkekli oturuyorlar" indicates mixed company in the auditorium, no segregation...
