I am so happy to have found this site. I am very new to Turkish, but I find spending time on this site a little bit each day is helping me to pick up many new words. I am even able to understand simple sentences. Slowly getting the concept of some of the grammatical rules. I find reading is much easier to understand than listening. But I hope that my listening skills will improve in time.

yes, grammatical is the correct spelling in English. As is grammar, not grammer. I do not write this to embarass anyone, so please take no offense. If nobody corrects my Turkish, then I cannot learn and will make the same mistakes over and over again. I am only looking to improve myself, so please never hesitate to correct me . I hope others will feel the same if I correct their English. I am only looking to help, not criticize or embarass. I have many Turkish friends, both in Canada and Turkey, and we learn from each other very well. Please accept my best intentions.....

It is because grammar  is  gramer   in turkish, that´s why we tend to spell it as "grammer" with "e".   It is like may be English speakers having bit hard time when they spell "televizyon" in turkish , because you want to say "television " as in English.

I personally still prefer to spell it as "grammer" even though it is wrong. {#emotions_dlg.yes}

thank you so much Cemsah! so now i just learned a new word as I did not know that this is how to spell the word in Turkish. I feel a little foolish now because I missed that this was a joke amongst people. But that is okay, I can laugh at myself. thanks again for the explanation

If you read my posts to the thread given in the link below - you posted there too - you will see that I know how to spell grammar correctly. I was just keeping a joke going but none of you got it (disappointing!)

Yes vona, if you see my quote above I admit I did miss the joke. Sorry to disappoint. I just appreciate that someone corrects me, as I am looking to learn and improve my own knowlege. I truly thought that someone was spelling the word incorrectly because they were writing in English. I did not realize they were spelling just the one word in Turkish. Anyways, I just want to learn....big things, little things, doesn´t matter to me. I have experienced nothing but good from all Turkish that I meet.
