Selam! I am being brave here and trying to translate another song. I know this is not perfect, because I am guessing sometimes along the way. Also, I do not recognize all the constructions, such as "görsen" or "koysan." And you can see I am completely lost in this line: "boşa koysan dolmaz dolusu alır mı." Still, it is one of my favorite songs. (There is a link at the bottom.) ... Teşekkürler!

Yaz dostum güzel sevmeyene adam denir mi
Write, my friend. What is a man called who has not loved a beauty?
Yaz dostum selam almayana yiğit denir mi
Write, my friend. What is a young man called who has not received a greeting?
Yaz dostum altı üstü beş metrelik bez için
Write, my friend. For more than five or six meters of linen.
Yaz dostum boşa geçmiş ömre yaşam denir mi
Write, my friend. What is a life, a lifetime passed to emptiness?

Yaz tahtaya bir daha tut defteri kitabı
Write on the board again. Hold the notebook, the book.
Sarı çizmeli Mehmet ağa bir gün öder hesabı
Lord Mehmet with the yellow high-topped boots someday will pay the account.

Yaz dostum yoksul görsen besle kaymak bal ile
Write, my friend. See that you nourish the poor with cream and honey.
Yaz dostum garipleri giydir ipek şal ile
Write, my friend. Clothe strangers with a silk shawl.
Yaz dostum öksüz görsen sar kanadın kolunu
Write, my friend. See that you take the orphan under your wing.
Yaz dostum kimse göçmez bu dünyadan mal ile
Write, my friend. One does not pass from this world with possessions.

Yaz tahtaya bir daha tut defteri kitabı
Write on the board again. Hold the notebook, the book.
Sarı çizmeli Mehmet ağa bir gün öder hesabı
Lord Mehmet with the yellow high-topped boots someday will pay the account.

Yaz dostum Barış söyler kendi bir ders alır mı
Write, my friend. Does Barış himself take the lesson he gives?
Yaz dostum su üstüne yazı yazsan kalır mı
Write, my friend. Does what is written stay on top of the water?
Yaz dostum bir dünya ki haklı haksız karışmış
Write, my friend. A world in which the just and unjust are confused.
Yaz dostum boşa koysan dolmaz dolusu alır mı
Write, my friend. Does he take his fill, not filling, taking to emptiness?

Yaz tahtaya bir daha tut defteri kitabı
Write on the board again. Hold the notebook, the book.
Sarı çizmeli Mehmet ağa bir gün öder hesabı
Lord Mehmet with the yellow high-topped boots someday will pay the account.

Here is a question about this song: When I read the scene in "İnce Memed" where Abdi Ağa goes to the letter writer to send his complaints and warnings to the government, it made me think of this song. Is that what this song is about -- someone telling a scribe what to put down on paper for him?

Also, I like that Barış becomes a character in the song. The bard enters his own story and leaves his signature, yes? I´ve been told this also happens in Turkish poetry. And then Orhan Pamuk follows the pattern when he becomes a character at the end of "My Name Is Red" or "Snow" and tells how the story ends. I like these patterns.

I dont know to whom Barış says "write, my friend" but  it is not Sarı Çizmeli Mehmet Ağa. Maybe he is writing to Sarı Çizmeli Mehmet Ağa. It makes sense because Sarı Çizmeli Mehmet Ağa is an expression you use when you talk about unnknown person maybe even someone who doesnt exist. There is a story of this expression I will give you the link but I dont have time to translate it:

http://www.ozmena.net/genel-sohbet/sari-cizmeli-mehmet-aga-nin-hikayesi-39991.html

Also it seems this Mehmed Ağa was a real person and Barış found his tomb and make it repaired . Here is the news:
