If the first syllable of the word has a flat vowel (a,e,ı,i), other vowels of the word should be flat vowels too.

When you check your vowel harmony, always focus on the very last vowel of the word.
Here our word is "uzun" , what is the last vowel of it ? it is "u". So take "u"
The suffix you want to add is second singular person [you] , so , we have 4 option to choose for,
sın
sin
sun
sün
and which one would be harmonic with "u" ? , Yes, with given four options , it is "sun".
u ----> u
so, you can attach it onto the word now.
Uzun + sun ===> Uzunsun [ You are tall]
===================================
Another example ;
We want to say " You are Kashf-ul mean "
what is the last vowel in Kashf -ul eman ?
it is "a"
going back to our options ; sın
sin
sun
sün
a ----> i NO
a ---> ı YES
a ---> u NO
a -----> ü NO
Kashf -ul eman + sın -----> Kashf-ul emansın. ----> You are Kashf-ul eman.
If the last vowel of the word is a or ı ----> sın [ Oradasın, [Sarısın ]
e or i ----> sin [ Öğretmensin , [ İşçisin ]
u or o ----> sun [ Uzunsun] , [ Japonsun ]
ü or ö ----> sün [ Gürcüsün ], [ Dansözsün ]

- a or ı may be followed by a or ı
- o or u may be followed by u or a
- e or i may be followed by e or i
- ö or ü may be followed by ü or e
here are three rules of vowel harmony:
- Back vowels are followed by back vowels, front vowels are followed by front vowels. Do not cross the back/front boundary.
- Unrounded vowels are followed by unrounded vowels.
- A rounded vowel may be followed by a mix of rounded closed and unrounded open vowels.

Look kash-ul-eman. Dont try to learn every principle about Turkish grammar. Even I dont remember the minor vowel harmony principles now. But I still talk properly. Read a lot and you will learn to use which form of suffix without knowing the minor vowel harmony principles.

gokuyum is right, that is what happens even to learners, believe it or not. After plenty of repeating simple phonetical rules get automatized and then you are free to forget them. But unfortunately the number of repeats needed is in thousands.

I haven´t learned that rule ever, it´s just very logical to me,when I see E it´s just logical that suffix must be with İ. Like it´s in my blood. I don´t know how,i´s just like it this.

"Sen uzunsun" is not the proper way of telling someone he/she is tall; it may easily be misunderstood.
Nice girls should always prefer "Sen uzun boylusun" instead.

I guess you could also use boylu which means tall-long and high
but normally uzun is used

Because sometimes people don´t want to be bothered to say the whole thing, It´s just the way of collaquial usage , by dropping "boylu".
Everyone knows that just "uzun" doesn´t mean "tall" on its own however when you use it with a person, people will know that the person is talking about "tall" [the height of a person] , although it is not a proper way.,people use it that way.. its just a collaquial way.
Ayşe uzun ve zayıf bir kız = Ayşe uzun boylu ve zayıf bir kız ===> Ayşe is a tall and thin girl.

He thinks, some of people on the forum teach wrong. so he says;
Don´t teach people wrong things
He calls learners as millet.
I personally think that both are used widely in practical language, and not wrong.

Hi, I remembered the vowel harmony rule like this and it was easy:
e goes with dotted letters: ö ü i
a goes with undotted letters: o u ı
The last vowel will indicate to you which vowel will follow.
After a while it will come naturally to you. Good luck with your learning!
