It is an interesting article but it is a somewhat narrow view.  Not all Republicans are so keen on the social aspects of the parties view.  I agree though that it is largely a manipulation to get people stirred up.  I have voted for both parties and will most likely continue to do so.  I don´t like the government making decisions about my personal life or anyone elses for that matter (ie...abortion, homosexuality...etc).  These are personal lifestyle choices and shouldn´t be part of a political platform.  However, I would like to the right to say I am personally for/against something and not be called a radical or liberal.  Everyone is different but most people that I am around are fairly moderate.

Sadly Alpha, I think our countries are going thru similar experiences.  Our people are so polarized it is hard for the voice of reason to be heard.  This is just my opinion but I feel that our politicians have gotten so good at manipulating us that we don´t even see the real issues anymore.  In the US we are busy arguing about social issues that are already constitutionally guaranteed while other huge issues like the economy/war/poverty/education are barely addressed and if they are it is in the most superficial way.  I almost have to ask myself everyday...do they really think we are that dumb?  Sometimes my mind answers back...YES.  Sad, but true.  It is getting harder and harder to say otherwise.

Sad to have to say I agree with you regarding how easily manipulated the population is. Ever since Freud, the science of propaganda has gotten better. Keep the population busy and they won´t have time to notice. Shout loud enough over and over enough and  some will believe you, or are they just too tired and worn down to disagree?
