NERE- ´which place´

               + -DE ´to which place´

               + -DEN ´from which place´

               + -YE ´to which place´

Think of the corresponding statement, then replace the place modifier with this NERE- thing. That´s all.

Ali İstanbul´da yaşıyor. > Ali nerede yaşıyor?

Ali İstanbul´dan gelecek. > Ali nereden gelecek?

Ali İstanbul´a taşınmış. > Ali nereye taşınmış?
