Quoting Abla

What are you trying to say with your sexist posts AlphaF? That what we are trying to do here is worthless and rubbish? Or?

There is always a thin border between ´being lively and interesting´  and ´being banal´ when ´dropping hints´ in these subjects. Lol

You will not be so disturbed, if you concentrate on the scientist and his experiments...Forget the fine line, LYCRA is not thick enough to hide it.

Istanbul 14-16 March 2014. Be there.

My suggestions for discussion:

It would be nice and practical if those of us who come from a long distance used the same hotel. Tidy but moderately priced, easy to reach, friendly and flexible staff. Any recommendations from experienced Istanbul travellers?

Preliminary program:

FRIDAY: arrival, settling down, maybe a cup of tea together

SATURDAY, NOON: sightseeing tour of our own, led by an Istanbul member of TC, "inside view of the city"

SATURDAY, EVENING: dinner, Gülhane park maybe?

SUNDAY: culture event (concert, theatre, exhibition, let us see)

Mr. vineyards has kindly offered to help with our class meeting plans.

Please comment.

I can suggest Erboy Hotel or Adora Hotel - both of them are situated in Sirkeci area near to Gülhane tram station; both have resonable prices, are very clean and every time when I travel to Istanbul I go there; for Erboy you should make reservation at least 3 weeks in advance; the Sirkeci hotels family includes (as you can see if you open the link) another 2 hotels - Ilkay - a budget hotel, a bit small but with the same excellent conditions, and Orient Express - a bit expensive ( I booked them in the past and it was very very good).
