Quoting Johnk

üzgünüm

afferdersiniz
özür dilerim
I believe afferersiniz is used if you wish go past someone who is in your way.In english we say excuse me
The other two are used as apologies.
Is that correct?
Any other phrases I could use for these situations

af (forgiving)

etmek (to make)

affetmek (to forgive)

affet+r(pres.simp)+siniz----------------->affedersiniz (you forgive)

When it is used for the meaning of "sorry, excuse me etc.", one removes one of the "f"s.

afedersin (sorry)

afedersiniz (sorry)

This is a different pattern.

özür (1obstacle (physiological), 2apologizing)

dilemek (to wish)

özür dilemek (to apologize (direct: to wish a forgiving))

Özür dilerim. (Sorry / Excuse me.)
