Selam! I am back with another song. This time I have discovered Mabel Matiz. I love his song "Zor Değil," and I have tried to translate the lyrics, but as usual I need your help. For instance, I know that "köşeyi dönmek" means more than just "to turn the corner." It means to make good, to attain what you are seeking, yes? But I feel like the literal meaning works better here. What do you think? And in the first line of the song, I know from the dictionary that "bol keseden atmak" means "to make extravagant promises, to scatter promises around." Is he using "sallamak" here just to change things up, or is something else going on? As always, I appreciate your help. Teşekkürler!

Zor Değil

Sallıyorum bol keseden -- I am waving promises around.
Sağa sola, zor değil -- To the right, to the left. It´s not difficult.
Atıyorum, tutuyorum -- I´m throwing, I´m holding.
Kâh tutamıyorum, zor değil -- Sometimes I can´t hold. It´s not difficult.
Dönüyorum köşeleri -- I am turning the corners.
Dört köşeli, zor değil -- With four corners, it´s not difficult.
Vuruyorum dizlerime -- I am knocking my knees.
Ah pata-küte zor değil -- Ah biff bam. It´s not difficult.
Katıyorum tozu dumana da -- And I add dust to the haze.
Toz değil, toz değil -- Not dust, not dust.
Biliyorum hepsi havagazı -- I know all of the empty talk.
Söz değil, ah söz değil -- Not words, ah not words.
Deniyordum seni -- I was testing you,
Sen seversin bunu -- You love this.
Sevmediysen peki -- If you didn´t love me, well,
Sen tamamla sonu -- You fill in the end.
Halk ararsan çık saraydan -- If you long for people, come out of the palace.
Ağlıyorsan dön yolundan -- If you weep, turn from the road.
Aşka dair konuşursan -- If you speak about love ...
Gerisini sen tamamla -- You finish the rest.

1) sallamak, atıp tutmak have similar meanings. They mean exaggerating things or telling lies.

2) köşeyi dönmek means to become rich but in an easy and corrupt way.

3)tozu dumana katmak means to raise a ruckus.

Now you can try translating this poem again.

Ipucular için teşekkürler, gokuyum. ... Here is another try. It´s better but still not right, I fear.

Zor Değil

Sallıyorum bol keseden -- I am telling lies
Sağa sola, zor değil -- Right and left . It´s not difficult.
Atıyorum, tutuyorum -- I exaggerate. I lie.
Kâh tutamıyorum, zor değil -- Sometimes I can´t lie: It´s not difficult.
Dönüyorum köşeleri -- I´m getting where I want to go.
Dört köşeli, zor değil -- When it´s all squared away, it´s not difficult.
Vuruyorum dizlerime -- I strike my knees.
Ah pata-küte zor değil -- Ah biff bam. It´s not difficult.
Katıyorum tozu dumana da -- I raise a ruckus.
Toz değil, toz değil -- Not a ruckus, not a ruckus.
Biliyorum hepsi havagazı -- I know all the empty talk.
Söz değil, ah söz değil -- Not a promise, ah not a promise.
Deniyordum seni -- I was testing you,
Sen seversin bunu -- You love this.
Sevmediysen peki -- If you didn´t love it, well,
Sen tamamla sonu -- You fill in the ending.
Halk ararsan çık saraydan -- If you long for people, come out of the palace.
Ağlıyorsan dön yolundan -- If you weep, turn from the road.

Gerisini sen tamamla -- You fill in the rest.
