Children under 18 that are protected under their parents insurance, and foreigners over the age of 65, have no ruling that applies to them specifically. Therefore under the current rulings, it will not be obligatory to have insurance in their name.

Hi the above has been translated online. Can anybody please take some time to make the necessary changes to it. I am going with a friend in his 70´s to apply for his residency tomorrow and have just been told that the customs police are still asking for health insurance for the over 65´s as they have not been informed by Ankarra and they have nothing in Turkish to refer to.

Thanks in advance

18 yaşın altındaki çocuklar ebeveynlerinin sigortası altında korunurlar ve  65 yaşın üzerindeki yabancılara uygulanacak özel bir kural bulunmamaktadır. Bu nedenle mevcut kurallar doğrultusunda onların adına sigorta yaptırılması zorunlu değildir.

I don´t know much about this issue, but as far as i know a new act (Act No: 6458), which is forcing general health insurance for resident foreign adults, became valid on 11/04/2014.

Thanks MCO for your translation. Yes that ruling is requiring health insurance for foreign residents but there has been a new agreement between the Turkish GDMM and the English Foreign Office stipulating that over 65 year old residents do not require insurance. Doesn´t make sense to me but that is the new agreement. Unfortunately, not all offices dealing with applications are aware of this new ruling.

Thanks very much for your help.
