Hello there,

I would like to ask something. I am a foreigner who lives in Turkey. I´m married with a Turkish man. I just wanna ask about importing synthetic bags to Turkey from Philippines. I am going to buy 12 pieces for myself and as a gift to my husband´s relatives here and to sell some on gittigidiyor. My question is, do I need a CITES certificate to import it even it is NOT made by a real animal leather?

I also read that I have pay for a tax with I think 11% of the total cost of product cost, shipping fee and insurance. Another question is, does the price of the item I am going to import is the price how much I got it in Philippines or is it the price here in the Turkey? For example, the bag cost I got is just 10 dollars in Philippines and in Turkey it cost 20 dollars, which price are they going to use to calculate for my duty tax?

I really need your help. Hoping to get a useful answer. Thanks and may the God bless you.

as far as i know, the tax amount calculated on the prices in turkey but it it not your duty. you just use the original purchase price.

you dont need to pay tax for a few item in your luggage, nobody cares it as long as it doesnt costs too much. tax is problem when you ship something. it is not a problem when you personally carry it.

for example i took 20 paint brushes each one costs 20 dollars (total is about $400 ). nobody asked or checked it.

if some officials check your luggage and asks what are they for, just say they are gifts for friends, relatives. gifts are mostly tax exempt.
