I was going to mix some updates on the World Cup of Basketball with some sentences. Please feel free to check and correct my sentences. And if you know any good links to watch the games, please post them.

Ikinci yarımı hem iyi değildi. (I used ı for possessive, I think in Turkish this is correct, meaning the team rather than they but I´m not sure)

3. Turkey did much better against USA than New Zeland did.

Türkiye Yeni Zelanda´dan daha iyi karşı ABD yaptı.

I see half translates to yarım, yarı. Do these 2 words mean the same/ can we use either?

Yarım ekmek vs Ekmeğin yarısı (no difference)

Yarım elma vs Elmanın yarısı (no difference)

But they not always have same meaning

i will give you some examples:

Elmanın hangi yarısını istersin?

But you cant say: elmanın hangi yarımını istersin?

Yarım elma istiyorum

you cant say: yarı elma istiyorum.

Yarım elma:

Fotoğraftaki elmanın yarısı would be half of this.

fırıncıya gidip yarım ekmek al, aldığın ekmeğin yarısı benim olacak.

Yarım ekmek OR Ekmeğin yarısı

Yarım ekmeğin yarısı would be half of this.

few more examples:

10´un yarısı 5´tir.

Yirminin yarısı ondur.

insanların yarısı benim gibi düşünüyor.

Correct literally, but a more usual translation would be "we couldn´t pull ourselves together", "we couldn´t sort ourselves out"
