Me again
This is quite tough to ask as job sector, experience, type of company may differ. So I will try to give some examples. Also, comparing someone local in Turkey and an expatriate.
1. A fresh University graduate (say in business)
For my country : If I use Turkish Lira, about 2000-2500
2. Unigraduate with 2-3 years experience (say in business)
about 2400-2700
Bascially, I just want to know on average the income ceiling in Istanbul.

as you said it is so hard to say. It also depends on the university that you have graduated. which major. which languages you know. And most important LUCK. I would say you will probably get 40% of it if you are lucky. uf you are unluck you will stay jobless or pick any job for 600 ytl.

yeah but im guessing that its much cheaper to survive in turkey...
for example: they will see 10YTL like we see 10sterling
even despite the fact that 10ytl is worth only 4 pounds.
and most thngs in turkey are cheaper, especially food... hehe

Well, yes if all you want is to survive. If you want to have a nice life then you will have problems on every issue at every step. Telephone charges, Oil, Electricity and İnternet are the World's most expensive in Turkia.
I will give an example of internet prices:
Unlimited internet prices:
256 Kbps : 49 YTL per month
512 Kbps : 89 YTL per month
1 Mbps : 139 YTL per month
2 Mbps : 229 YTL per month
A school teacher earns between 800 - 1000 YTL per month. I can show smillar examples of electricity and call charges.
The reason is that our government doesn't collect any income tax. Instead they collect those indirect taxes they have added to these public services and goods. 80-90% of the prices of call charges, electricity, oil, and internet are taxes. These only make the poor more poor and the rich more rich since there is no income tax.
People are advised to pay income tax but if they don't pay nothing happens. %2 of are controlled whether or not they pay a fair income tax.

Hi,
So glad that there's response under this post.
Woah, seems like the life in turkey is really not easy. Yes, indeed the internet charges are expensive! Looking at the post, seems like the average income is about 600-900 YTL.
As I was a traveller when I was in Turkey, so I didnt get to have a good chance to find out the cost of living and material goods. I was quite suprised that many shops/boutiques in turkey the goods sold are quite expensive. Even for a foreigner like me, I find it expensive. So I thought, people earned really well in Turkey, thus, they can afford such luxurious goods.
I find this thread really interesting. Hope to see more replies.

I thought a minimum wage operates in Turkey is that correct?
In the UK it is currently £5.05 pr hour but it is rising to £5.35 pr hour. The type of jobs where people get paid the minimum wage only is the service industry, waiters and bar staff, cleaners etc. manufacturing, production operators etc and agriculture - land workers (and of whom many of them are Eastern European, so to them the minimum wage is like winning the lottery)
