i am not sure if this is correct but i know that söylemez is wrong, it should be söyleyemez.

Is the "olduğumuzu" optional?

No it is a must.

Because when you use"we´re wrong" as a noun phrase, it is translated as "haksız olduğumuzu" 

"Being wrong" ( Be = Ol ) and (ing = duğumuzu ) and by that i mean they carry the same function.
