Hi Eugenia,

I´ve been learning since 2013 and these have been very helpful to me:

Audiohttp://www.goethe-verlag.com/book2/EN/ENTR/ENTR002.HTM

I download all, and copied the text for free during a free trial period. I listened to it so much and it has been extremely helpful in learning to recognize and practising the sounds.

Book: Teach Yourself Turkish by G.L. Lewis was the only thing I really needed in the beginning. You can find it online here: [pdf link here] but I recommend you buy it Also later The Turkish Language Explained by John Guise is a must-have (see below).

Site: This site ofcourse but one of the absolute best is this one: http://www.turkishlanguage.co.uk/index.htm. You will find every aspect of grammar in there and you´ll also find lots of links from this site to there. John Guise also has a great book, be sure to buy it, I have it from iTunes and use it frequently if not daily.

Start to learn some daily greetings and read one chapter of Lewis every couple of days. It will work great.

I also started following Turkish Twitter and Facebook pages, those are great to practise short sentences.

Good luck

Free books are hard to find. You should try to google them and maybe someone put a pdf online.

Yeah I thought at first it was very very difficult because you have to get used to the reversed order of the words in a sentence and the use of suffixes.

But it´s a very logical language and once you understand that there is a suffix for practically word that´s not a noun or a verb then you´ll be fine haha

Also it´s completely pointless to learn it because as soon as you start to speak two words of Turkish they´ll start to speak English to you. But that didn´t ruin my fun at all, I´m still learning and loving it. And ppl will appreciate it a lot.

Hahaha you´re right! I know that there are different suffixes depending on the subject, time and it is a verb, adjetive, noun but they are a little confusing (for me because I have just started)

I thought it was pointless to learn it too but, as you have said, you have fun while learning it and apart from that many people don´t know it so you feel inteligent and special! Haha

I found several PDF´s here: https://yadi.sk/d/71O5dCIRMeUbp. They download as PDF´s straight to your pc via the square button top right of the page.

I find that ´Teach yourself Turkish´ by Pollard&Pollard is much the same as the one by Lewis.

I agree, that´s a very helpful site.

If you like to learn by example, try this one:
