Hi

I wanna the meaning of "Bulunan" word in this sentence.

"2036 y覺l覺nda Dünyaya çarpma olas覺l覺覺 bulunan gökta覺"

how the sentence can be translated and why ?

I´m not sure how much Turkish you know, but here is my attempt to explain.

Bulmak = to find (verb)

Bulunmak = to be found (passive verb)

Verbs can also be used to make adjectives to describe nouns.

One way of doing this in Turkish, is with a relative clause.

The forms used can be -(y)an/en, -dii/- and -(y)aca-/ece-

eg. Spor yapan insanlar = people who do sports

Oturan adam = the man who is sitting

bulunan gökta覺 = the meteor/meteorite that is to be found  *see next post

gök (sky/heaven/celestial) + ta (stone/rock) = gökta覺 (meteor/meteorite)

Now for the other parts of the sentence

2036 y覺l覺nda = In the year of 2036

Dünya = Earth/our world,  Dünya´ya = to our Earth

çarpma = crash/impact

olas覺l覺k = possibility/probability

çarpma olas覺l覺覺 = the probability of an impact

So my interpretation of this ´partial´ sentence would be

The meteor that has the possibility of an impact with Earth in 2036 ...... and then I guess more of the sentence continues

Hope my explanation helped you understand

Thank you to Faruk & Erbab for correcting my error about ´bulunan´

Bulunan in this sentence means "have (or has)". The root is "bulunmak"

So the translation will be:

The meteor that has the possibility of crashing the Earth on 2036.

You can not use ´´to be found´´ in this sentence.

Another examples;

Sizde çekiç bulunur mu? = Çekiciniz var m覺? = Do you have a hummer?

Gerçekleme ihtimali bulunan bir olay = An event which has the possibility of happening.
