Merhaba!

I read many very useful things here, but if I want to be really sure that I know something, it would be great if I could try to solve some exercises. Besides, it is good if one thinks how to make some construction. If someone would make some tests, I am sure many visitors here would be very greatful.

What I would need is:

1. 30 sentences for practicing -dık suffix (dığım, dığın, dığı,...). I think this is very important, because it is used very much in turkish, and it is not easy to master, because it has 2 different meanings and is very original compared to other languages.

2. 30 sentences for lazım and different forms of gerek (gerek, gerekiyor, gereklı...)

This 2 would be great for the beginning, I hope there will be more ideas from other members.
As I imagined it, it would be perfect to have the sentences written in english, and answers in turkish hidden somewhere below.

Thanks one more time for doing a great job!

Dragan

merhaba,
about the -dik suffix you might want to have a look on these pages:

http://www.turkishclass.com/forumTitle_6_596
http://www.turkishclass.com/forumTitle_6_312

On the first link you will find an explanation about the two different forms of -dik.

Bu iş için bana "verdiğin zaman" çok kısa.
Arabayı tamire "verdiğin zaman" ne yapacaksın?

Here is a small exercise for you:
Build at least 5 clauses of verbal adjectives like in the following examples. If you can do it me or someone else will check it. Certainly other members can try it as well.

okumak:
okuduğum gazete > the newspaper I read

gitmek:
gittiğin okul > The school you go

It would be even better if the clauses could be used in proper sentences:
Okuduğum gazete çok faydalı.
Gittiğin okul çok uzak.

I will try to make some sentences.

1.I lost the telephone that I took from you.
2.The sentence I wrote here is wrong.
3.The sentences I wrote there yesterday are correct.
4.The music that she likes is not beautiful.
5.I got the letter that you wrote today.
6.Where do you stay when you come to Belgrade?
7.Where did you stay when you came to Belgrade?
8.Whom did you see when you entered the building?
9.She sells to them everything that we love.
10.The table they broke was made of glass.

1.Senden aldığım telefonu kaybettim.
2.Burda yazdığım cümle yanlış.
3.Dün orda yazdığım cümleler doğru.
4.Sevdiği müzik güzel değil.
5.Bugün yazdığın mektubu aldım.
6.Belgrat'a geldiğin zaman nerde oturursun?
7.Belgrat'a geldigin zaman nerde oturdun?
8.Binaya girdiğinde kimi gördün?
9.Sevdiğimiz herşeyi onlara satar.
10.Kırdıkları masa camdan yapıldı.

Ok, enough for now, I put the sentences in two groups, so that someone else can practice too, but I am sure that I have mistakes, so someone else should definitively check first.
I am afraid that there are some other things which can be expressed by using this form, but if I am making the examples in english, maybe subconsciously I am avoiding the ones that would be difficult for me.
I think this would be a really nice way for students to progress, because even if I hear or read something 10 or 100 times, I can be sure that I know it only when I know that I can use it successfully. If you would make some database with sentences like this in english, one group of 20-30 sentences for each topic, it would be great for people to practice. Maybe I am wrong, this is just my opinion. I am trying really hard to learn this language, and up to now, the lack of such exercises has been my greatest problem.

Thank you kartal for your suggestions. We are trying to take every suggestion into account. Actually what you have suggested is in my mind too. If I can write some lessons there will be some short explanation and afterwards the exercises will follow. But you know it takes time.

1.Senden aldığım telefonu kaybettim.
2.Burada yazdığım cümle yanlış.
3.Dün orada yazdığım cümleler doğru.
4.Sevdiği müzik güzel değil.
5.Bugün yazdığın mektubu aldım.
6.Belgrat'a geldiğin zaman nerede oturursun?
7.Belgrat'a geldiğin zaman nerede oturdun?
8.Binaya girdiğinde kimi gördün?
9.Sevdiğimiz herşeyi onlara satıyor.
10.Kırdıkları masa camdan. (or ...camdan yapılmıştı )

On number 6,7 and 8 the -dik suffix makes an adverbial clause of time from the verb. Very good sentences I must say. They are almost perfect. I know many Turks who dont speak that good.
