Selam,

This is just a very vague query I have and am wondering if anyone could give me any information...
I am very young at the moment, but am thinking about my future as most are encouraged to do at my school...

I was just wondering if anyone could advise me as to what sort of jobs are available for english in turkey and the sort that one could become quite successful in, what would be needed to achieve this-qualifications?

I realise that this is a very vague query that probably seems quite silly but if anyone could give me any ideas if they have any useful information about english permanently working in turkey I would be very grateful!

Thankyou to anyone that can help me.

It depends very much on where abouts you would be going to work. In big cities like Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir there are more job oppurtunities for foreigners. The popular holiday resorts are also quite popular, and offer jobs in tourism, but most of the resorts are only open in the summer months, and the jobs are limited to things like working in travel agents, estate agents, hotels etc. The main jobs available to foreigners are teaching jobs, jobs in teaching arent difficult to find, but compared to the wages in the UK the pay is quite low, and if you were to live in somewhere like Istanbul, the cost of living is high. Some English courses don't even require any qualifications, but if you want to work legally, then a TEFL certificate is desirable. You would need to get a recidency visa and work permit if you plan to live there long term and work, you would also need to consider things like insurance and health plans.
