And why don't you both send your CV instead of laughing? It is open to you, too, and one of you can be the ideal candidate. Why not?

Dear Cyrano:

I was just getting ready to apply when I read..."shopping, Cooking, Cleaning, Washing and the like".

I hestitated. So, before I send in my CV I must ask...do you not make enough money to hire a maid? Also, I didn't see any type of benefits package offered for this job. Is there any?

Please let me know ASAP, CV will be sent based on the answer.

Sincerely,
Future possible applicant

Of course, I was hastily submitting my application, but I notice you are asking for her to provide children, do the housework AND financially support you too!! Not so much to ask I suppose ( ) !!! Ahh, alas, I fear I am not your Roxanne!

Good luck with your search dear Cyrano - I fear your search may last for years lol!

Well Cyrano, if you are above 90, can't stand tickling, own a loaded bank-account and have a will with MY name on it, I think it might work. Otherwise..... (do I ask too much?)

Dear Candidates,

To begin with, you should be aware that I make no money, let alone enough money. This follows that I have no income at all and that the ideal candidate must be ready to provide me salary, no less than some $4000 or €3000 or £2000 monthly. This was intentionally mentioned not, in the advertisement since candidates were expected to easily infer from it.

Please note that because I am a romantic, very very romantic, poet, I have not enough time to perform and/or share any angary house work or whatever. To the contrary I have and will have time, as you appreciate, only to write love poems, occasionally ballads, and if wished, romances that I will dedicate to the ideal candidate, namely my future wife. Please also note that you should expect me to bring nothing more than that or no benefit package into the union in question.

The ideal candidate should take it into consideration that after the magnicifent marriage cerenomy, costs of which will be charged from her and in which many a woman all over the world, I believe, would wish to participate as the bridge, she will take my almost holly, most respected surname, "Bergerac". This means many a first lady, such as Hilary Bush and Cherie Booth, will without a doubt be jealous of the ideal candidate. Needles to ask, what else would she wish in her life?

Should you have further questions, please feel free to ask posting here. I will be more than happy to answer them.

Sincerely,
Cyrano de Bergerac

Indeed, the very sound is akin to a Shakespeare sonnet Monsieur de Bergerac. I beg you to remember that, alas, I am not French or indeed, a good cook Ah! Cruel fate…

Farewell! thou art too dear for my possessing,
And like enough thou know'st thy estimate,
The charter of thy worth gives thee releasing;
My bonds in thee are all determinate.
For how do I hold thee but by thy granting?
And for that riches where is my deserving?
The cause of this fair gift in me is wanting,
And so my patent back again is swerving.

Ehi!

I can find no word to say to you other than that you appear to be well-educated, most-cultured, lover-oriented, love-experienced as well as a poetry-lover, a Shakespeare-lover, a Cyrano-lover.... it would be able to be worth trying to marry you, I deeply regret to have to utter, if only all of these, and many more not mentioned here, characteristics of you had fitted any of the terms stated by me in the advertisement. Should you try and work harder, I am sure that you could get some more chance. (Ah, cruel fate ah!)

I would love to wish you good luck in the rest of your love-life.

Sincerely,
Cyrano de Bergerac

Hey hey hey!
Nothing sounds better than Sophie de Bergerac! (like Sophie Marceau or something )

I have a Master degree in love, marriage, child raising, cooking and housekeeping.
I m supporting myself and my daughter very well, as far as financials are concerned, I have a very good job and a terrific (too proud of it ) house. I also have my own car and I dare to say Im a very good driver.
I look good (or so people say) and passion is my middle name (The only thing I m not is modest, but I guess you already realized that)

Furthermore, my english is not that bad. I don't know French and I never cared to learn German but Greek is my native language. Thus, I can read Elytis, Kavafis, Ritsos, and Karyotakis to you in their original language. Not to mention that I can read and explain the Greek tragedies to you, since I have a very good knowledge of the ancient Greek language.

But there is a serious problem and thus I can't fill the application: I'm taken!

I am part French, part English and live in Germany. I think this may be a good place to meet my future husband.

I live in a very large house and get so lonely with nothing to do each day but count my money….ahhh. For 6 years now I have been looking for a husband, living alone in this pristine, beautiful clean and ordered house!

Do I ask too much of a man? Indeed, all I require is a romantic poet, a scholar, a wordsmith. I should not like him to work, merely to stay in my beautiful home, thinking beautiful thoughts and provide me passionately with the children I desire. I merely ask that he let me love him, be a slave to him, worship him

Ahh but it is too much to ask I think, even for such a beautiful girl as me

Maybe someone suitable will see my picture and marry me...

Ahh sweet Cat Leo - I am so glad you agree what a perfect couple we make! Unfortunately my Cyrano does not seem to agree with you and is leaving me neglected here . However, I have received many adoring PMs - some of which I fear are serious spam (lol)!!!

Darling Cyrano! Askim! Sevgilim! Where are you? Muckkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

If I had thought this to be a real post in search for a bride with these kind of UNREALISTIC QUALIFICATIONS we would have had some real debated issues here, but I see that Cyrano is living in 'LaLa Land of make believe'

He is looking for her in the wrong century, but then again anything is possible!

Hi cyrano!

I just wonder if you found your Roxanne, for I, too, look for my Columbine these days. I hope you found Roxanne and are happy with her, and that I will soon find my Columbine.

Keep your fingers crossed!
