I am one of the two users who don't use those things called "smile". There used once to be chris123, and she wouldn't use them either. (chris123-I miss you much!)

I have a thesis on the smilies - the less you are master of the language, the more you need use them in order to espress your opinions, feelings, emotion, etc. Using the smilies is also the indicator of the fact that you either aren't aware of or despise the power of the language. If only all of us could imagine how wonderful things we can create in and with the language.

Well Monsieur, you know my opinion on the English language, and I try to keep my vocabulary as rich as i can. However... smilies ARE important on forums. They can indicate the tone with which you say something which can be vital! As I am occasionally prone to sarcasm (!), it is useful as an indicator that I am merely joking - i.e. if I said to you:-

'I hate you' - you may be offended!
However if I said 'I hate you' ' - I think you would realise I was joking !

Anyway, we will agree to differ and here are some flowers
