Antalya Kesik Minare

The Kesik Minaret Mosque, is originally built as a Roman temple, later reincarnated as a Byzantine church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Several modifications were also made during the Seljuk and Ottoman periods. It was transformed into a mosque by the Turkish Sultan Sehzade Korkut in 1467. The fire in 1896 ruined the mosque and the upper part of minaret which had been constructed in wood. Today, it is just a ruin, attesting to the mixed history of Antalya.
