Thanks for the invite Christine but having read all yout caustic comments about police officers I will not bother to read it again.Yes I did find your comments offensive aenigma but I did not it was based on your experiences and just had to add my comments from someone in the know. If that makes me a smart XXX then so be it!I only wanted to redress the balance with positive opinions about our police officers so members of TC would not get a one sided view.

Now once again I apoligise that this is not about the initial thread and I will not be posting on it again so sorry Christine!

I hope this helps you it is a website where you can ask questions about Canadian Prisons and they have a list of frequently asked ones.
www.torontoghosts.org/prison.htm

Now I have done that part can i just thank christine for amending her slanderous remarks that all police officers are racist.I know at the very least one that isn't!And the majority are the same.So please don't delude our fellow TC members please. You may scare them away from approaching them should they ever need to!

Sorry to put the topic back to the police and i would help you if i could about your request for information on prisons but I really must stand up for the police and point out that as there are thousands of police officers in England, Wales and Scotland. The people on this site have obviously only met a small minority who maybe do have the bad traits identified by them and whilst I do not defend this I would point out they can only speak about a minority!I can speak for the majority and know hand on heart that they will fight tooth and nail for justice for everyone regardless of their creed or colour. The job is dangerous at times but and can be thankless it would be a terrible world without them. And as for Balamory children need to see the police as someone they can go to in a time of need and if a cartoon encourages this then all the better. As i said aplogies for going back to that topic but I had to redress the balance and i would say erdinc your view was correct in the first place.

Bod, re travelling to Hisarönü. I think you might be mistaken but if you want to go there you can get the dolmus to marmaris and then the dolmus from the same autogar you arrive at to hisarönü. It is not expensive about 2.5 YTL and the last one leaves about 1830.Take a tip from me and allow time at the autogar for lunch at the restaurant behind it. It is used mainly by local people and is excellent. Also take a trip to Orhaniye too using the same dolmus (it is the next stop more or less from Hisarönü) and is worth it even if just to see the camels walking on water ) Have a great holiday

Phoena there is no problem if you and your husband/boyfriend wanted to be in the same room when you get your massage it just depends on where the massage room is. As for the shaving part I have seen many people use the hamam and have seen lots of hairy men and some hairier women but none were refused a massage.
As for shaving all over it may be a Turkish custom but no one checks whether you have or have not as you enter and anyway you always wear your swim suit or bikini so no one will know

Just thought i would post this for anyone heading to marmaris or around there ho has now been put off going to the hamam. I would say do not be put off in the slightest it is a really nice low cost way to pamper yourself.Plus at the end of a hot day you come out feeling squeaky clean. I have been to the 'touristy' one in marmaris, the non touristy one in Marmaris and the non touristy one in Bodrum as well as a tourist one in Olu deniz and have never felt uncomfortable in any of them.
I have generally found that when you go in you are ushered to a changing room where you can change into your bikini or bathing costume, bikinis are better when it comes to the massage later and to the scrub down but my bikini wearing days are over lol and my tankini did not pose a problem.
once changed you are taken to the steam room where there are little sinks all around the room where you can obtain cold water and use the little dishes provided to douse yourself in water. Once you have spent some time in here relaxing yodelling ( yes I have heard it all done) and generally carrying on in the fantastic echoing room the man or woman but my experience is its generally a man, comes in and then scrubs you down using a loofah cloth. Dont worry yout tan is safe but it does get rid of the burnt bits! After that he then fills what looks like a pillowcase with soap and uses this to cover you in foam and give you a gentle massage. This is when the ability to undo your bikini strap is useful as you then get the most out of the back massage.
Once that is done you are left to shower, still wearing your bikini etc and if you want take my advice and take in some shampoo and do your hair too.
After that you are wrapped in some what look like dishclothes, I am sure they have a proper name, and are taken to an area where you can relax and have a clod drink to replenish the liquid you lost in the hot steam room.
You are then led to the massage area where again usually a man will give you a very good massage using baby oil ( hence the reason to do your hair so you don't then have to shower and wash of the nice oil)
Do not worry about it being a man they are all very nice and totally professional. I have sometimes been on my own when I have gone and have not felt at all uncomfortable. If you do meet a chancer who insists you bare all at the front a nice smile and firm no usually is the answer.
I don't like the touristy ones they do have a jacuzzi you can also use but that is not the traditional way and also you feel like you are on a conveyor belt and it is generally a noisy rabble and not at all relaxing.
Sorry to have gone on at length but I hope this helps and if in Marmaris I highly recommend the one nearest the marina with the parrot outside called Pasha, please say hi to it if you go!!

Hi, I was in Turkey last year and went on a jeep safari for the day (I was on a gulet holiday) one of our group wanted to go para gliding but they, the Turkish people who ran the safari advised him against it as did the captain of our boat. They mentioned the people who were killed and having seen them up there it is not surprising. Just remeber if you do decide to try it to make sure your insurance covers you for it and dont rely on any that you are offered as an incentive to book the trip. have a great time I'm sure you will or should i say iyi tatiller!
