Anyways, let's stop talking about Ataturk, I'm tired of him. It's more then enough to see his face everywhere you turn in TR..

1- if you are tired, why are u still in here?

2- are you admin of this site to stop this topic?

3-have you got a power to abolish Mustafa Kemal Atatürk from our hearts?

4- are you frightened from his nobility?

I think it is even hard for moderators to stick to the rules:-

9. Avoid personal disputes and arguments. Personal correspondence postings should be kept at a minimum. Personal attacks or insults directed towards other users will not be tolerated. Basically if you don't have anything nice to say then just don't say it all. If somebody posts an insulting comment do not reply to it. It will only result in starting a flame-war. Instead, send a Private Message to one of the forum moderators and they will take care of it.

lol lol lol

I see you still dont understand what I mean. I am sure other members has already understood.

As you know, there are lots of members who can start a thread but there are very few moderators to read your posts. But seems you want to help us about threads violating rules. It would be kind of you.

So the title of the thread just below about Muslim Atheletes passed you by? I thought you were "watching me" ?

I wish I had as much free time as you have to watch you.

Ahh yes, I really have NOTHING to do, as anyone who knows me will tell you.

I am curious though ...

(1) There is nothing in the Turkish Class rules about criticising or insulting Ataturk, and yet I once saw somebody deleted for it. This site is a US based site, but because it teaches Turkish language, are you saying we are subject to Turkish law???

(2) Why do you consider homosexuality to be an insult?

(NB. I have no reason to criticise Ataturk at all. My question is hypothetical)

1) I did not say you are subjected to Turkish law. You are subjected to Turkish class own rules which were not created by me. According to rules, to be deleted is very easy but nobody has deleted you so far although you broke too many rules. Once you already confessed that you broke rules. This shows that our aim is not to delete everything or everybody. All we want is to keep the peace.
Turkish class can be US based site but can you say there is not any Turk member here? Lots of around. I see you have written more than 3500 posts but you still dont know which can put people in temper. I dont want anybody to argue here. Forums are not where people argue and insult each other. I hope you understand me. Please dont ask me more about this topic, because I have already talked more than I needed.

I think Erdem should lock the thread and write the reason for locking instead of deleting it, if he thought that there was a problem. I think that deletion is reserved only for severe insults and deleting threads that he doesn't agree with is a bit of a dictatorship.

I agree. And then the topics like 'why there was a problem and was it a problem really etc' should be allowed to be discussed.

You can start such a thread asking what the problem was and if it was really a problem. It is your right.

I have read the rules and can only see that the thread about Islam and Homosexualty contravened the rule about discussing religious topics. If this is the case, then why did you not delete the other threads about Islam on this site? Most recently about the muslim athelete, and others too numerous to mention.

Strangely, I can see nothing in the rules about discussing homosexuality, but I think this is the deeper reason.

There was nothing in that thread as far as I know (may be something added later!!)..
It is not against 301 or anything!!
Why was it deleted?
Is it forbidden to discuss homosexuality in Islam or homosexuality in Ottomans?

I don't know, some guy named Erdem appeared and then poof it vanished. Maybe it had to do with me stating that I should assume Ataturk was not gay. He may not have agreed with this, who knows.

If it is true.
IT IS WRONG!! Respecting Ataturk is one thing.. (I do respect him for example. I find him heroic)
But trying to block something because of an artical written by ermenians is different.
It is censorship!!
It shows that we NEVER learnt what Ataturk was saying in the first place when he was talking about democracy and freedom..

What are your evidences to judge me? You say "IT IS WRONG!! Respecting Ataturk is one thing" What are other things? Yes, I respect Ataturk. You say you find him heroic. Is to find some heroic enough to show respect? I am sure there are lots of children who find Spiderman heroic. Do you think they respect Spiderman too?

I think you are talking about yourself while saying " we NEVER learnt what Ataturk was saying in the first place when he was talking about democracy and freedom.."

Please tell me the limits of democracy and freedom. Do you think democracy and freedom is unlimited? If so, why do we need laws?

I am sorry I can't lock the thread. It is already a severe insult. If not, please tell me some severe insult examles so that I can understand how a thread or posts can be severe insult. On the other hand, you should read forum rules too. There it is obvious what to be deleted or not.

By the way, What is dictatorship? Do you think a dictator put laws into practice? You know Turkish Class has its own rules which were'nt created by me. Seems you dont know even meaning of the dictatorship.

Dictatorship
"In contemporary usage, dictatorship refers to an autocratic form of absolute rule by leadership unrestricted by law, constitutions, or other social and political factors within the state."

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dictatorship

By the way, isn't it an insult to say somebody a dictator?
I think this is not an insult again. Or it is an insult but you are not sure if it is an insult or not.

Have you read forum rules? I am sure you have not. It is easy to ask why it was deleted, who deleted, what was wrong with it etc before reading rules.

Read it then tell me if it is forbidden or not

First TURQuazman, you have posted something and you dont want Turks not to respond. Do you have any right to choose who will respond your post? Second, what you posted is provocative and somebody has already been provocated and you started an argument. Good work !!

As to Alpha, why did you take it upon yourself? Are you sure TURQuazman has told it to you? And you replied him in bad language. Good work !!

If you have personal problems and want to argue, please do it with private messages or dont do it at all. Nobody has to read your personal arguments.

Please read forum rules one more time.

Dear members,

If you go on arguing with each other in this way, I ll have to delete the topic or a few one's membership. Is it so hard to debate kindly?

Title of the topic is Turkish Army but all I can see is that some members insult each other, nothing related with topic. Please, try to behave each other kinder and not to talk irrelevant to topic.Thats all for now.

Thank you for reminding. Somebody has written that there were 103 pictures waiting for being approved but most of them have to be deleted. You only think that there are 103 pictures and mods are sleeping.

There are lots of useless pictures among those 103 pictures and sometimes somebody uploads at least 20 or 30 useless pictures which are impossible to approve at the same time. That's why I make those kind of pictures wait and delete them together.

Before uploading a picture, please look at the pictures uploded by me, Admin or Elisa. Format of the pictures must be like the pictures uploaded by us. For instance, there must be at least a little information about the pictures. You must write the city where the picture belongs. Pictures have to be in large size. I deleted lots of small pictures. As I said, please look at the pictures uploaded by us. Otherwise, these kind of useless pictures will not approved by me and will wait there until being deleted.

Best Regards

Erdem...

I am agree with Anatolian. Osmaniye was a part of Adana before and declared to be a city in 1996. So, whereas Adana is a big and developed city, Osmaniye is a small and less developed city in comparison to Adana. However, Osmaniye is really a nice city and worth for living in.

he is doing his military service and he is counting down the days until he finishes, but counting won't make it go any faster. Has anyone here been in the military service?

I just looked at this topic but I did not read it carefully. As far as I see, your bf is still soldier and you are bit worried for him. No need to worry so much.Believe me he is in safe. Turkish army is really strong.
I came back from army 3 months ago. I feel that I am still a soldier. Hard for me to forget it. Army makes the boys a real men. I know training in army is very hard but very useful. While we were there, we counted down everyday. Because we were really bored of this training. Every soldier feels so. But I really miss army now. I spent my most exciting days there. I made lots of close friend there. It was like a dream.

Please dont worry, and believe he is in safe. You will find a real man when he came back.

I dont think i will be able to afford to buy a car, even a used car, because they are expensive.

Thank you so much in advance

Senin işine ve benimkine yakın birşeyler bulmamız lazım. Eğer işime yakın XXXXX de yaşarsak, belki o zaman arkadaşların seni arabalarıyla limana bırakırlar.

I tried to translate as well. Feridun Duzagac is one of my favorite singer so I decided to translate this song. He has much more beautiful songs.I recommend you and all other members to listen "Nadas, Cumartesi, Buralardan Gitme,Ucak, İcimden Sehirler Geciyor, Bos Ders Sarkisi" etc.

My candle has been lighted at ten thirty ,-------------
Thirty five years has passed my beautiful spirit is a old child.
If I set it free, it tries to play game by escaping from school
But it fell down, was hurted, got tired should relax indeed, my heart.

Are u my birthday present?
Let’s suppose welcome
Will you like me so much then?
Or are you shed from my eyes like every dream by rapidly being broke

Come now, let’s know each other first , shortly it’s me, FD
But tell me “I love you “at great lenght.
How rarely I heard , how rarely I said
That’s why, tell me “ I love you” without stopping.

Poet was optimistic, did we reach half of way?
E, I am member of radiation generation, became exhausted very early like all of us.
First find a place and sit down but pay attention to my wound
For sure there is my laughter
First you will need to sweep of my tear.
To love is hard

Come now, let’s know each other first , shortly it’s me, FD

........

..... That’s why, tell me “ I love you” without stopping

Şimdiden itibaren, bana karşı her zaman dürüst olmanı istiyorum. Her şeyi anlat bana. Ben sana karşı dürüstüm. Bunu biliyorsun.

Note:: I had to translate this text rapidly. Because of having very little time. There may be some little mistakes which wont effect main theme of the text.

I have seen the term tanistirayim - is this used in introducing someone such as karim tanistirayim.
what is the difference between burada and iste? what is the correct word for here?

-I prefer "işte" to "burada". Whereas "işte" refers to attracting attention, "burada" refers to location. However, I can not say using "burada" is wrong. But I prefer "işte".

how do you say...it is difficult for me or i find it difficult

- "Benim için zor" or " Onu zor buldum. " I prefer the first one.

does gitmek istyirum mean i want to go - if so how would you say i would like to go to turkey

-gitmek istiyorum= I want to go
-Turkiye'ye gitmek istiyorum= I would like to go to Turkey.

how do you say how is your family? how is your father?

-First one= Ailen nasıl?
-Second= Baban nasıl?

does anlamadim and anliyorum both mean i dont understand -can either be used?
-Anlamadım= I did/could not understand
Anlıyorum= I see

how do you say nice to hear from you?
-Senden haber almak güzel= nice to hear from you

Although I agree with admin, we should wind up this kefen-coffin disagreement with a Nasreddin Hodja's joke. Let's read and smile.

WHERE TO GO
The people asked the Hodja,
Dear Hodja, tell us, where should we go in a funeral procession, in front, at the back, or at the side?
The Hodja answered, It doesn't matter where you go, as long as you don't go in the coffin.

Beauty is more than skin deep; skin is like wrapping paper... It comes is many colours. But the gift is what`s inside...

Güzellik derin/koyu tenden ötedir, ten ambalaj kağıdı gibidir. Birçok renkte olur. Fakat hediye içteki şeydir.

I agree with Seticio, some songs of Ogun Sanlisoy such as "Pencere" and "Saydim" are really great. I also recommend "Kurban", one of my favorite Rock groups I forgot to add to the list.Especially one of its songs,"Yosma" and the clip of Yosma is worth watching.

Lyndie, I tried to translate the song. I hope translation helps you understand the song a bit.

The Love of Doomsday

He/she has written his/her love to the walls and papers
I surrounded and kept you to/for tomorrows.
I am waiting for my day to come
Finally it will come somehow.
This is eternal.
This is the love of doomsday.
My life will be ended by lover
This is eternal.
This is the love of doomsday
Either hold or throw
My heart adores and longs for you
Look at!
My shouting is endless.
Even though you are not here,
Your absence is not acceptable.

Thread: about a person who has the best charisma...

Hi friends,

I respect all your own ideas. However, I still think that charisma is not something you possess naturally or you are born with.

Dr.Tony Alessandra indicates that "I'm convinced that, contrary to popular wisdom, charisma is not something you're born with, like having blue eyes or brown eyes. Instead, I think our personalities consist, let's say, of a series of containers, like cups or glasses. Some are nearly empty, some brimming, yet others are partially filled to varying degrees. Together, they constitute our potential charisma."

"So, it's not a single ingredient that makes a person charismatic, and, more important, charisma isn't based on I.Q., genetics, social position, wealth, or luck. Instead, it can be learned."

you can find the whole article written by Dr.Tony Alessandra in the web site below

Thanks Dwyk;
You have written its meaning in 3 different ways
I prefer writing general meaning of charisma

“A special power which some people posses naturally which makes them able to influence other people and attract their admiration and attention. “

According to this definition, charisma might be believed to be a gift given by God. However, I don’t think charismatic people have their charisma as soon as they are born. In my opinion, Charisma is a kind of skill. Because it is impossible to be born as a charismatic, musician, artist or a leader, in contrast to this definition, charisma like the other skills is gained depending on what you experienced and worked on. When we are born, what we have is only a “Tabula Rasa”
““Tabula rasa (Latin: "scraped tablet", though often translated "blank slate") is the notion that individual human beings are born "blank" (with no built-in mental content), and that their identity is defined entirely by events after birth.””

As to people having charisma, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Modern Turkish Republic, is the most charismatic person I have ever seen.

1.Bu görsel dünyanın kurgulanmasında ben profesyonel biri değilim.

kurgu: abstract thought
kurgulamak : It may be translated into English to be "design"

I'm not one professional of/in designing this visual world.

2. Neydi beyefendinin adı? Tamamen uydurmuş.

I think using "make up" is likely here.
What was the name of the gentlemen?. He made it up.
However, if you had written the sentence following " Tamamen uydurmuş", it would have been more clear to understand exact meaning. But it seems to me that using "make up" is correct.

3. Selanik asıllı, gizli Yahudi, 'dönme' de deniyor.. Şu sıralar yine ayukka çıktı bu konu......

dönme, dönek : inconstant, changeable.
dont think dönme in the meaning of rotate or rotary.

Ayyuka çıkmak: (for something) to be known by everbody.

As a matter of fact, you are right again. "Mutlu yıllar" can be used to say " Happy new year". But dont forget that it can mostly used to say "Happy birtday". You can use it in either way.

You can also say "Mutlu yıllar". "Mutlu yıllar" is mostly used. However, "Doğum günün kutlu olsun" is correct as well.
