Can't find this in any phrase books and i'm off to Istanbul for the first time tomorrow........oooooh,i'm so exited.

I've prepared for every eventuality except the most important one!!! d'oh, my diet. I'm a coeliac (hence my nick name on here) and i need gluten/wheat free food in Istanbul.

Can anyone help me translate these phrases?:

"Is there flour in this dish"?

"Can this be prepared without flour"?

"I can eat rice but not with pasta in it"

"do you dip the meat in flour first"?

Teşekkur edırım in advance.

Hello! I have some coeliac friends who visited. It is not common here, so rice crackers etc can be hard to get. I suggest you bring some nibbles like that with you.

To say I have coeliac it would be better to say I am allergic to flour:

Una karşı alerjim var.

"Is there flour in this dish"?
Bunda hiç un var mı?

"Can this be prepared without flour"?
Un kullanmadan bunu hazırlayabilirmisiniz?

"I can eat rice but not with pasta in it"
Pilav yiyebilirim, fakat makarnayı yiyemem. Pilav markarnayla karıştırldıysa onu yiyemem.

"do you dip the meat in flour first"?
Önce eti una battırdınız mı?

Best of luck! If you are in Istanbul come and see us at the Greenhouse bookstore on the Asian side, in KAdıköy!

You can buy coelek-free bread and etc from some bakeries. AFAIK, the municipality makes some.

note:

MarioninTurkey,

I bought once a book from Greenhouse!

But, this Greenhouse was like missionary-post.
