Hahah Femme´s link confirms my suspicion about this "day":-
"In some celebrations, the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love to the women around them in a way somewhat similar to Mother´s Day and St Valentine´s Day mixed together."
I find the whole thing patronizing and condescending...

Sorry but this is a load of crap - and it does nothing but alienate us even more as a separate "group" like some kind of special needs people 
Hahaha! I would like to be in your "load of crap" gang too!! I hate all this s***, in my mind it is womans day every day........................ 
I will be celebrating the 6th and the 7th March............my nephew is 21 and my dad is??

I recall getting box of chocolates from the principal at the school I worked - there were two lines - one with female teachers waiting to get the chocolates and another one with those who collected them and had to sign to prove it

Ah, the good old days. It´s hard not to feel nostalgic sometimes (but only sometimes).
