PKK´s ceasefire is expiring tomorrow.
169 intellects urge the government to work for continuation of the ceasefire beyond 20th of September..
In a nutshell, they said:
-A peace can not be achieved with one side only..
-The dialog with the Kurdish party BDP should be kept open..BDP has serious responsibilities too-..

Such a relief!!!

Some Turkish sources are saying "PKK extended the ceasefire"!!!

According to the source below, after commenting about last week´s bombing incident   Ocalan has asked PKK to extend the ceasefire..

He said :

"target of the last week’s mine blast was the dialogue process he had started with the government."

"We had some very significant meetings. They could bring about important results. It’s worth thinking about the timing of the blast in Hakkari," Öcalan told his lawyers during a meeting last week, according to Firat news agency, the alleged mouthpiece of the PKK.

"These meetings were sabotaged by this last explosion," he said, adding it could either have been the military or a splinter group within in the PKK.

=====

I think, it is a perfect time to make peace as with the last week´s referendum results,  the nationalists which have been the biggest obstacle for the peace process feel beaten since their scare tactics did not work and people, it seems, are supporting the steps towards the peace -or call it Kurdish opening- taken by the government!!!

But such a relief that ceasefire has been extended!!{#emotions_dlg.flowers}

Definition of ceasefire:

A ceasefire (or truce) is a temporary stoppage of a war in which each side agrees with the other to suspend aggressive actions. Ceasefires may be declared as part of a formal treaty, but they have also been called as part of an informal understanding between opposing forces.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceasefire

I don´t think there is an agreement between 2 sides here. One sides makes some announcements only. This makes me think that they are trying to gain some time to plan their next bloody attack.

More good news!!

According to some sources, since the government started to talk to Ocalan (PKK leader in jail) directly, PKK members start to leave Turkey.

Ocalan apparently wanted PKK to take  its members back into Iraq from the risky areas where there can be clashes between them and the army..

They are even talking about ´indefinite period of ceasefire´ while the PM said something like political amnesty for the solution of Kurdish problem..

End of our 30 years old Kurdish problem?

I am very much hoping so..

I want to read a poem of nazim hikmet now:

Güzel günler görecegiz-

Güzel günler görecegiz, günesli günler
Motorlari maviliklere sürecegiz

...

The rest of the poem is here:

..

We will see beautiful days

We will see beautiful days, sunny days
We will drive our boats into blues

I know, when there is no killing and nobody dies people forget our Kurdish Problem.

So it is quite important to know what is happening and how..

There have been many taboo breaking steps from Turkey in the recent weeks..

And PKK ceasefire was extended one more months.. And PKK has been shifting some of its members to Northern Iraq from the areas considered as hot..

The next step might be an 8 months or a year long ceasefire.. They are even talking about giving up arms forever..

That is all great..

What were the taboo breaking steps?

- The state accepted the fact that they are negotiating with the Ocalan (PKK leader in jail) and asked him to stop attacks..

- They say that we accepted not to go into Northern Iraq any more.

-The members of PKK will give up arms first and then stay in camps in Northern Iraq for a while and they will come into Turkey..

See.. It was not that difficult.. was it?

Once you take out ´imaginary EU/USA supported terrorism´ argument; Once you stopped  saying that ´NO we dont speak to  PKK´; Once you be brave against the nationalists -that is the aftermath of referendum btw- everything become easier..

Hopefully, we wont see any more killings!!

I Looked for this news on the net  because I was surprised. I was just wondering why PKK would attack as everybody knows they declared ´ceasefire´. But I can not see anything!!

So far, no attack from PKK since the beginning of the declaration.

But however, Ocalan said ´If the government does not come to me with a proper plan until end of this month, he will pull out of the talks´.

That is dangerous..

Whenever he pulls out of the talks, PKK attacks start (and it is followed by the news articles about how PKK is attacked and killed our soldiers etc.). So we will see if they will continue with the ceasefire or not end of this month..

There is an article I saw a few days ago in the independent..

The headline is ´Kurdish rebels tell Turkey: keep your promises or ceasefire is over´

Taksim bomber identified

The bomber, 32-year-old Vedat Acar, was born in eastern city of Van.

Taksim bomber identified

The suicide bomber who blew himself up on Istanbul´s main square, wounding 32 people, came from Turkey´s mainly Kurdish southeast and belonged to a separatist group, the Istanbul governor said on Tuesday.

The bomber was identified as Vedat Acar, the governor´s office said in a statement. Acar was born in 1986 in Van province near the Iranian border, the statement said.

Seven people have been arrested in connection with the attack on Sunday in central Istanbul, Turkey´s biggest city and its financial centre, the state Anatolian news agency also said.

The attack was on a police point in Taksim Square and wounded 15 policemen and 17 civilians.

The statement did not explicitly say to which organization Acar belonged, but described it as a "separatist terrorist organization", a term often used by Turkish officials to describe the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). "It has been established that Acar joined the separatist terrorist organization in 2004.”

A photograph of the dead bomber was handed out by police on Monday.

The PKK on Monday denied any link with the bombing in Istanbul. It declared it was extending a 2-1/2 month ceasefire on Monday until a general election expected in June 2011.
