what is the difference between bilseydim and bildiysem

bilseydim = If I knew (hypothetical condition, present time) or I wish I knew

bildiysem = If I had known (past conditional)

Just to make it even clearer for an English speaker:

in bilseydim I definitely didn´t know. If I had known then ....

in bildiysem I may or may not have known.

E-5´in kapalı olduğunu bilseydim TEM´i kullanırdım.

If I had known the E-5 highway was closed (I didn´t know) I would have used the TEM highway (and probably saved myself a lot of time and a hot wait in a traffic queue)

Bildiysem doesn´t have the same implications.

I tried to change Marion´s example to use bildiysen/bilmediysen forms - can I ask if the following are correct ?

E-5´in kapalı olduğunu bildiysen, neden TEM´i kullanmadın ?

If you knew that E-5 is closed, why didn´t you use the TEM highway ?

E-5´in kapalı olduğunu bilmediysen, o günde TEM´i kullanmanın daha iyi olduğunu nasıl (nereden?) bildin ?

If you didn´t know that E-5 is closed, how did you know that it would be better to use TEM that day ?
