Hey does anyone have any tips on learning vocabulary. I find that most turkish words sound so similar to each other. For ex. (Karışmak) (karışılamak) (karşılaşmak) and I often find myself mixing up their meanings. How does anyone increase their vocabulary compacity in this language. This is the biggest thing preventing me from speaking better.

Hello! I am not surrounded by Turkish speakers, so I have had to go out and look for some good tools to learn vocabulary. Here are three:

1) There is a vocabulary test right here at Turkish Class that I found very useful in the beginning. You can adjust the difficulty, the number of words in one test, and whether you want to go from English to Turkish, or vice versa. It is a good place to start. ... It is under the "Learn Turkish" tab on the home page.

2) Hosgeldi.com is also a good tool. I quibble with some of its definitions, but for the most part, it will put you on the right path.

3) And I just recently found a site called Quizlet where people create vocabulary tests and then share them. There are several options for studying a vocabulary set. You can focus on reading, listening or spelling.

I hope these are not too easy for you. Güle güle kullan!

I was also going to suggest quizzlet. It can do flash cards and a variety of tests like multiple choice or matching. I´ve been trying this one a lot:

the best is www.memrise.com  in my opinion. You can make up your own tests from their dictionary, as well as do other people´s tests
