Quoting Daydreamer:

If it´s one of these two words then I think it should be
su içersen

Yes, you´re right. It should be "su içersen", "if you drink water" but not "suyu içersen" = "if you drink the water", because it´s a general statement, we are not talking about a certain water.

Thank you Trudy, it looks like it´s a serious fire. It´s weird that I went to the site of "Hürriyet" to get the latest news, but they give it just in a small corner in the bottom among other "unimportant news" like the cellulits of a celebrity.

According to the context, it may also be "I´m ashamed to talk to you"

I know grammar is not difficult Daydreamer, but when learning Turkish through another language than my mother tongue, I need to understand two! If it was in Dutch, there would be no problem, I teach that language myself but English.... ooffff....

You know, there´s no rule to know what the term corresponds to in your mother language.
Like in a lot of the language courses, forexample in my french courses, the professors were french and didn´t know turkish. When we, turkish students, started at the zero level, they were just talking in french, somehow later, I think it´s the teaching technics, you learn and understand it. There was no turkish explanation, neither in our books.

Well, count me out then. I just looked at some beginners lessons and many grammatical words I didn´t recognise. Sorry.

I just saw this. If you think that you won´t be able to manage the lessons because of the terms, then ok, we won´t include you.

Quoting Trudy:

I was seriously about having interest! (Gosh, really no SOH?)

I like to start at beginner 1 even though I know a tiny piece of the grammar. But, I do have a serious other problem! As you know English is not my mother tongue and grammar rules in English are sometimes very different from those in Dutch. Sometimes I even don´t know the translation of the English grammar word. And I need to understand what I´m doing before I can use the rule myself, I found out when I tried before. So, I´m not sure if I can understand all the explanation. I bet I´m not the only one with this problem. How are you going to solve that? Will explanations be clear as water, or do you expect that we are familiar with the English names?

We already included you in the beginner group 1.
If you find it too easy for you, you can pass to the beginner 2 later if you wish.
I think you will be able to understand the explanations. To say the truth, I´m not very good at english grammar terms either, but ofcurse as a teacher I´ll find the exact terms. Even if you don´t understand anything from the term, examples will be given, so you will understand what was meant, and later it´s easy to keep in mind these terms when you have to work on them. However, if you could, find the dutch terms of the english ones, I think you can find them easily on the net.

Anyway, since the lessons are free, we keep the right to exclude any student from the course after the lessons are started.
