Why are you ashamed? Are Serbian people responsible for that, or just individuals (politicians)?
You shouldn´t feel that way, we both are Serbs, but we didn´t start that war and made that genocide, that was act of individuals, so we have nothing to be ashamed of. Most of the Serbian people feel sorry about Srebrenica and whole war (which was one big mistake), trust me, so feel proud because we, as nation, and our goverment, looked the truth in its eyes and admited it was mistake and apologized, don´t be ashamed.
All nations are suffering from that stupid war, even today. There were victims on both sides, and ofcourse they can´t be forgotten, but we must stop blaming each other, should apologize to each other and become friends as earlier. I mean, we are neighbours, we have noone closer, we are all so similar...
So that is the biggest shame, we still keep fighting. Let those responsible be punnished, let´s get over that war, and let´s move on and be friends again. Srebrenica and all other war crimes aren´t here to be ashamed of, but they are here to remind us never to listen and get our brains washed by individuals, and never to fight again! May all victims souls rest in peace (no matter what nationality)...
P.S. Sorry for long post
Thanks for the post. Thanks for Nadya for her bcc documentary link as well.
I think both of you Nemanja and you are right. Yes it was wrong to go to war and now almost everybody is sorry for it. I really appreciate you, as a state come over it and apologised. That is quite important to heal the wounds and also shows a kind of remorse about what is being done. But also, I think blaming the politicians only on this incident is a bit far away from telling the truth. It was all out war and sometimes, during the war times, the masses can get illogical and monstrous. Sometimes the war creates its own logic, blinds people and make people forget their values. They act with sheer instincts of survival and capabale of doing unimaginable things. We Turks know this from our own history.
But thanks again.
