Hello everyone,
I would like your help regarding respectful attendance in a camii.
I will soon propably visit turkey, and as a good turist I will go around the major sightseeing places.
A vast majority of them are Cami'es....and i am a woman!
Even though i am a cristian I wouldent like to provoke or insult any believes by ignorance!
what must not weare or which places of the temple should or shouldent go close to? are a few of my questions!
Please through in any information you think might help me avoid desterbing or messing with whats conceidered proper!
thank you all in advance!

Hi Penelope!
Don't hesitate or have any doubts of visiting a cami. You can visit/see every parts of it which are open to public, unless there is a pray. You are a guest & Christian, so don't worry about your clothing. And you don't need to cover your head as well. Everybody will be respectful and friendly to you.
Welcome, beforehand

hello penelope
just be modest in your clothes in general, maybe you don't need to cover your head, but it will be nice to put on a shawl, because sometimes they ask tourists to cover their heads with a scarff before going in, i've seen it once, in al suleymaneye mosque i guess, there will be some scarves outside for tourists so it might be better to take your own with u
other than that you are welcome!

Sorry, I visited a lot of mosques in Turkey and many times they would not let me in unless I covered my head, wore pants or long skirts (in Alanya they gave me long skirts because mine - just over my knee) were too short. And of course, shoes off!

singlets and cleavages in a mosque are a big no-no. they will surely ask you to cover up in a shawl before you go in.
also shorts and skirts must be at least on or covering the knee. otherwise they will ask you to cover up with a shawl wrapped around your waist.
and like trudy said, no shoes inside a mosque.
but everywhere else i'm pretty sure you should be ok wearing a singlet.
