I also sometimes wonder if people know the difference between sentimental romantic VERSE and POETRY

Let me reply: They DON'T know the difference! I can bet my head on this!

werent these poets... the lucky ones that were discovered... because of their sentimental romantic verses?

Quoting SuiGeneris:

so why dont you start to enlighten us about it?

I think you know the difference Sui Verse is the kind of thing you get in a greeting card, or maybe write yourself when you are a teenager.

Poetry is a wonderful art form where each word is imaginatively selected carefully not just for its meaning but to evoke an emotional response through meter, sound, rhythm and flow.

You mean that if I write a couple of nice verses, full of emotion, this can make me a poet? And a poet worth to be mentioned among those we are fighting to keep in these poetry pages?

these can be handled... as having "amateur poetry"... informal poetry... whatever...

We may call it "poetry" but it is not. Poetry is what you are translating in this site for months now. Take a look at your posts and you will see what I mean. You know the subject better than I do

Now..."Roses are red
Violets are blue
Carnations are sweet
And so are you" is not poetry! End of story!
