How important is the wind shield part on a nargile? We brought one back from İstanbul and only realised when home that the top part was the bit you put the tobbacco into......the one I used in İstanbul had another part which is like a pretty tin can with both ends removed - is this only needed outside???

i don't think it is very important. the nargile will still function without it.

you could probably go to a middle eastern shop and see if they sell it on it's own.

Thanks, I haven't tried it yet but thought it probably would work fine - at least indoors.

I have found a shop in London that sells all the components, including the wind shield. They also do mail order so I can get one if needed. But I shall try it first and see

no worries!

i think the nargile will still work outdoors without a wind shield, provided it's not a really blustery day!

Would you want to be outside using a nargile in the north of Scotland???
Personally I would want to take it and myself indoors
