Two friends have both contacted me today about a virus on msn (both have had to "wipe" their hard drives).

During your chat in msn a link appears in your conversation window (neither can remember what is says!). If you click on it it shuts down your firewall, anti-virus the lot!!!

Check with the person you are talking to before opening any links.

Aenigma, are you sure it isn't a hoax? McAfee nor Symantic (Norton) nor VirusAlert knows this name. And with Google I only find it on disputable bulletin boards.

Try telling my poor nephew and friend that it's a hoax!!! No Trudy its not a hoax, but the link I posted may not be the right one - someone else advised that this was probably the link.

I think the main lesson is DONT CLICK ON LINKS until you know that the person you are talking to definitely sent it.

I changed my mind- the title should have been "Virus Legends"! Because everyone writes here with half-info, verified not.

"Hey-have you heard of the current virus travelling through MSN?"
"Did you know there is someone hacking people's MSN accounts and sends viruses into their computers?"
"These days never click on any link appearing on MSN- behind it may be a virus!"
"I fancy my comp got a virus after my recent MSN chat. What about yours?"
"Be cautious while chatting on MSN! You know viruses now are even harder to recognize..."
"Pity!.. Even Norton Symantic is desperate for that bloody virus!"

I know YOU are not writing to criticize people about half witted posts. I do recall a post linking Tarantino-Bill Gates and all world refugees. hmmmm...i wonder who wrote that half brained connection while supporting nay one? Please don't try to exalt yourself. I think exalting women would be easier and more pratical...or at least you will find supporting data!
