I thınk ın turkısh ' I dont know when I wıll come back' ıs
' Ne zaman döneceğimi bilmiyorum because ıt ıs 'from future aspect' and ıf ıt were 'döndüğüm' ıt ıs used ın present and past tense.
But I am stıll learnıng so I am not totally sure of thıs.
Oh and thank you for your observatıons!!

oh, i turned the next page of my turkish grammar book and it talks about "when" plus future aspect!!
the conjugation should be:
-eceği zaman
therefore:
-eceğim zaman
-eceğin zaman
-eceği zaman
-eceğimiz zaman
-eceğiniz zaman
-ecekleri zaman
so it should be:
Gerçekten çok hastayım ve döneceğim zaman bilmiyorum
we were both half right!

Thank you for your message gezbelle and for giving me the conjugation although I asked to a native speaker and he told me that=
"I dont know when I am going back" was:
"Ne zaman döneceğimi bilmiyorum "
When you say "when" in turkish it is (from future aspect)
-eceğim zaman / -eceğimde (as you poınted out)
but ın the context of the sentence above, ıt ıs
'"Ne zaman döneceğim...' but WHY?
I dont know how to explaın thıs but I am sure a natıve speaker wıll help us!!.

hmmm...but if you put "ne zaman", to me that is asking a question. in the translation request, i don't see it as asking a question, it is a statement.
so if you put it as "ne zaman döneceğimi bilmiyorum" it is "i don't know, when will i return?"
when explaining "when" plus future, my grammar book makes no mention of using "ne" with it.
i will ask around too. hopefully someone can help us out...

Good idea to ask around.I know it is like that but I cant explain well 
When it is one statement as you say, you ALSO put
"ne zaman" but when it is directly a question
"when will I return" it is
'Ne zaman döneceğim ?'
WITHOUT -dik participle (that is the main difference)
